Booked table for a rare family occasion whilst visiting my parents in Newquay. Reservation was made on Thursday for Sunday lunch for 6 people at 2pm. Although the reservation was confirmed, upon arrival we were told that our table had been taken by a different group who had only just started eating. We asked to sit at a different table but even though there were other tables free we were told they had been reserved for others and we were left standing in a gang way by the bar for 20mins until our table was vacated. Rang first to book a table for 8 for a small post wedding meal and was told that no bookings were being taken and to just turn up and we would be seated. So come the day, looking forward to a nice meal, we arrived and explained what we had been told. Only to be told that they did not have a table to suit 8 guests. We asked if they could maybe put 2 tables together and after a sigh they arranged this albeit with 2 very small tables. we ordered our starters and main meals and awaited their arrival with anticipation. Good family run venue with good selection of wine,cider and ales. Something for everyone on the menu and they offer taste worthy homemade lasagne and lemon meringue cheesecake that where perfectly created to perfection. This place is a laid back pub that welcomes children and dogs with good display of t.v screens for sports and if you go on a Saturday night you might be fortunate enough to get some live music. Ample seating for large family gatherings. They don't offer table service as you will need to order at the bar. My grandfather made reservations for a restaurant meal on the last night of our vacation in the area. We were expecting a more typical restaurant ambiance, but to our surprise, there was a live band playing and a lively crowd dancing and drinking at the bar. We were the only ones dining in the restaurant section, which meant that service was extremely fast and the portion sizes were generous. Although it wasn't what we had originally anticipated, we still enjoyed the food and decided to leave shortly after to avoid getting swept up in the unexpected party atmosphere. The pub itself is lovely, but I must say, they need to stop serving customers when they are clearly very drunk. It's not humorous to see a customer who can barely stand and falls over multiple times being filmed and laughed at by bar staff. This particular customer was a nuisance, continuously pushing into women and should have been asked to leave. It was disappointing to see that only two customers were left to deal with him.
Visited here today for Sunday lunch whilst staying on the area. myself and my son and the 2 x carveries and 2 x desserts for 13.95. Husband had a burger and daughter kids meal. Can't complain about the food at all. Was good quality and good value for money. All staff very welcoming and friendly. All facilities tidy and clean. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!
