"Cute authentic feeling uk pub, but I'm American so what do I know ? I really liked it that their happy hour was 5 to 7, and there was literally nobody there but my friend and I. But the bartender was super friendly and made us feel welcome and the snacks that were part of the happy hour menu were really tasty. This would be a really fun place to watch a soccer game"

So, this place (right now is a complete and utter train wreck. It seems that it is going through some re-branding or something and during that time, they are actually staying open. This was the bar 'Swanky Bubbles ' which was featured in an episode of Bar Rescue, featuring that angry guy who looks like a Dark Crystal muppet creature and goes around screaming and threatening people. It didn 't take long for that iteration to close ... it re-opened about a year ago as a British Pub called The Victoria Freehouse. First of all, this might be one of the worst physical locations in history for a bar. At night, it looks like The Five Points from Gangs of New York. This is not an area you want to be...

Now replaced (as of 21 March 2023) by Lilly 's Ferry , they still kept nearly the entire old menu but added Mediterranean food to it: [hidden link] It was my first visit and I ordered..... Scotch eggs: 3.5/5 I was surprised by how simple/plain the scotch egg itself tasted (just slightly meaty). You need to add the chutney/sauce provided on the playe to add any significant flavor. Altogether, it was pretty decent but not worth the hype, in my opinion. Fries: 4.5/5 Perfectly fried on the outside yet soft on the inside. Thicc and basically the opposites of 5Guys fries (I personally enjoy all kinds of fries as long as they 're properly cooked and not overtly salted). Magners Irish cider: 5/5 Lig...

Love this neighborhood gem British Pub! And we cannot believe it took us as long as it did to first venture in. We were clearly missing out. The owner, Ed, taught a cooking class at nearby Old City Kitchen and that's how we learned more about it and that we needed to come in. I mean, they have sausage rolls and scotch eggs which are some things that we really enjoy and have missed since our time living in Pittsburgh a while back. Taylor was working the bar the first time we went in and she was great. This made us want to return again very soon when we had guests in town who also enjoy sausage rolls and scotch eggs. They didn't disappoint yet again. The fish and chips and chicken and chips we...

We arrived about 90 minutes early to grab a bite to eat and have a drink beforehand. The drinks were on the pricey side, which is the main reason I gave this place four stars instead of five—I don’t think $20 for a drink is reasonable. That said, the drinks were well-crafted, and the food was enjoyable. I ordered the falafel sandwich, which I would definitely have again, and a baba ganoush dip that included pomegranate, which was also good. We bought our tickets online, and the process was straightforward. I was worried that I'd need to download an app to access the tickets, but fortunately, the ticket staff (who happened to be a performer as well) had a list of names, making the entry much... I had brunch here on Sunday and I can't wait to return! The atmosphere was a bit off—quiet and the music didn't quite match the pub vibes. However, the service was excellent and the food was even better. My boyfriend and I still rave about how delicious our meals were. I ordered the full English breakfast, which I would rate a perfect 10/10. My boyfriend had the bubble and squeak, which was good, but I thought mine was superior. I also appreciated that all three condiments provided were authentic and from the UK. Just a heads-up, brunch doesn't include coffee or espresso martinis if you're looking for those. We'll definitely be back to try their dinner menu!

I wanted to love this place (becasue I loved the English food in London), but I felt like everything I ate was just blah. The bartender was amazing, but the food just wasn't there. Deviled eggs it might have been the pickling of the eggs, but it was straight up rubber. Scotch egg too much breading for the sausage part and the egg was too overcooked. Marmite Wings this was actually ok. My kids weren't too fond of it though. The flavor was just too strong for them Full English breakfast the bangers felt like they were undercooked. They tasted better once I got home and cooked them a lil longer.

The food... the food... wow. We just stopped in for a quick round and a bite, I wouldn't have expected how good the food was from the appearance of the place (although the appearance is perfectly adequate). We got the Scotch egg and Pumpkin Bread Pudding by ordering from the bar. So delicious. There was a once per month stand up comedy show upstairs with an additional cash bar up there for the event but we did not attend the show. Downstairs bar takes credit cards.

I have to say that the best fish and chips I 've ever had in the US was at The Victoria Freehouse! I 'm extremely picky because I 've had the real thing in England but theirs is pretty good. We went on a Wednesday night and it was dead inside so we were double guessing even staying but I 'm glad we did. The staff was so friendly and personable too. I will definitely be going back and recommending this place to anyone who will listen. Two thumbs up!!!!!! Réservez une table maintenant

It's a nice place to grab a pint and a snack. I've visited a few times and tried different items from the menu. The fish and chips were decent, but the batter on the fish could use some improvement; perhaps the fryers need better cleaning. It’s still enjoyable, but not amazing. The music isn’t always the best choice for a pub atmosphere, but overall, it’s a pleasant spot by the river.
