I booked the festive menu for three and said I would have something off the menu all four of us had purchased a voucher for £15 which enabled us to have £25 towards meal and drinks. The three friends each paid a deposit of £5. The meal was dreadful!!! The service was slow and we were the only ones in there! The beef had no Yorkshire pudding, the Turkey ROLL was like Bernard matthew’s, my chicken was over cooked and dry it was supposed to have a sauce but I had to ask for gravy it was so dry! Just below average food nothing special but not bad either . The rissotto looked good but was a bit bland same goes for the chicken wrap . We actually had a lovely time as it was a group of 4 friends meeting for a day out and our waiter was good and friendly at the table but didn’t do the usual checks and we were left for long periods . The restaurant was very cold and draughty with no ambience at all it definitely looks like it’s run on a shoe string which is a shame as it used to be a ‘go to ‘ destination. The service and food at this restaurant are average since it changed ownership. The Sunday lunch was okay, but the plating seemed off. There was a string of fat unattached to the meat, and the mashed potatoes were the worst I've ever tasted, and they cost an extra £4, which is ridiculous. Charging an extra £1.50 for a Yorkshire pudding and £4 for mash on the Sunday lunch menu does not make it a traditional Sunday lunch. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially if you had been to the White Lion before the change in ownership, as it does not compare to the quality and ambiance of the previous establishment.
I used to enjoy dining at this restaurant in the past, but my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered a lamb dish, but was served a pork chop instead, which was also raw. After sending it back, it came back cooked but still pork, not lamb as I had requested. When questioned, the chef insisted it was lamb because that's what was written on the packet. Throughout the 3-hour meal, no glasses were cleared and we were not even offered dessert, despite there being plenty of staff available. I am hesitant to return to this restaurant in the future.

Used this venue regularly over last 10 years .Food was always good service good.Prices gone thru the roof since Covid ...£5.25 for 125mm red wine is city price! The pub is still a very nice place BUT last visit marred by a younger group using excessive bad language ..not nice when ladies are present is it ? ! Management need to curtail this as it disrespectful to customers bar staff ! It deserves better ambiance than this needs to return to its original very nice quality !
Went here sometime ago with past owners so thought I would try it again. Not a good experience . Food was really poor quality and the expresso coffee was served in a dirty mug. Saved somewhat by decent and friendly young staff but they weren’t able to handle complaints appropriately. Not sure what’s happened here. Hope they manage to get it together.
Paid my first visit to this venue the other day and was extremely surprised by the quality of both the restaurant and the food. I chose from the lunch menu this time, and the steak was excellent. The actual interior and layout is excellent, and the staff were very pleasant. Will be returning soon to try the evening menu. Highly recommended
The White Lion has a reputation for great food and service, but last night was terrible. The staff were slow and some were rude, with the manager even talking about us behind our backs. My lamb dish turned out to be pork, our table was full of empty glasses, and we weren't even offered a dessert menu. I will not be coming back.

Met up for a school reunion, group of 10. Lovely room, great food for the evening meal and breakfast. Would definitely book again. Thank you to the staff.
