Just been out for lunch, it wasn’t good. was basically ping cuisine (don’t think the cauliflower was pinged as it wasn’t over cooked). The rest was pre-packed or from frozen. The desserts were bought in. Salted caramel desert came with its own lid, brownie...bites warmed up you guessed it in the ping machine, bought probably from Asda or Morrisons. Mine arrived burnt the bowl handed to me so hot it burnt my fingers. Won’t be returning for a very long time. We don’t eat Ping food at home why on earth would we pay to go out eat it. Plus they got the bill wrong. Such a shame but it’s tough competition out there, it’s upto them to get it right. Sue
I visited the White Lion for 1st time this evening with my family for tea. Both the welcome and hospitality of all the staff was very warm and friendly. Food all home cooked and very good, tasty and proper pub grub menu, will definitely be...going again very soon. Our waitress Donna was especially lovely, very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Prices not expensive and very good value for money, meal portion sizes just right. Would definitely recomend the White Lion to anyone who's thinking of going, Go!
We went to The White Lion today for Sunday lunch , we hadn't booked and was told there was no room , as we was in the car park Dawn came out to say they had found us a table , absolutely amazing food and...everyone of the Staff was lovely, me and my daughter had roast of belly pork and my husband had Roast beef, food was delicious and generous portions,we chose ice cream, rhubarb crumble and ice cream and i took mine home , food was all home cooked , highly recommend this little gem of a country pub !!!
Many pubs/ restaurants serve up bland Sunday dinners with frozen veg, chewy flavourless meat and ‘generic’ gravy. But not The White Lion. Honestly, the best Sunday dinner we have ever had with proper gravy, followed by a homemade pudding. We couldn’t fault it! We’ve...been here a few times now and the food really is sooo good, especially the steak ale pie. This lovely old English pub is cosy and homely, the staff are friendly, it really is a hidden treasure of a place!
