When I am travelling on the I know that visiting the William Cecil for a coffee or something to eat will always be a lovely experience. And when we stopped off there recently without booking, we were given a great welcome and sustained hospitality....We all chose the cheeseboard offering as a light lunch, and each meal was consistent in its presentation and quality; they even brought us some more water biscuits on request. Thank you to all concerned, and we are again sure to return.
We got off to a bad start with a server apologising unnecessarily and blaming others for their mistakes. That added a tension from which the evening didn't really recover. Really good menu which I'd like to revisit but after making a fuss about the lamb...being offered pink it came medium/well done and my order for a glass of wine necessitated a reminder. Not a disaster, I don't want to put off people from going but my evening was a disappointment.
We had drinks at The William Cecil which was lovely and I accidentally left my scarf which I only realised the next day after I had made the hour drive home. I called and left a message on the answer phone and I was...promptly contacted by a very helpful lady who agreed to post my scarf back to me . I could haven’t have asked for more . I gave since received my scarf as promised
Went here the other day and it was less then average I’m sorry to say. Lovely setting but that’s where the enjoyment finished. Unfriendly staff Steak which I’m still chewing on Bread and olives came with small sachet of butter and nothing to get...the olives out. They need to up their game dramatically
