After we were finished with services at the new Brighton Center for Specialty Services, we sought out a late lunch at the Wooden Spoon. We were the only customers for most of the time: two tables were finishing up as we entered the dining room, and two men, eating alone, came in as we were paying our bill. Our server, Maddie, took care of us today as we ordered a variety of dishes to share. We tried the white truffle herb fries, house salad, Caesar salad, chicken lettuce wraps, and Mexican corn. The fries were crispy and flavorful, and we enjoyed them with ketchup and sriracha since there was no BBQ sauce available. I recently spent a week in Brighton and decided to try out this restaurant after being drawn in by their unique sign, a large wooden spoon. I was not disappointed! This place is absolutely amazing; I enjoyed it so much that I ended up dining there twice in one week. The food is creative, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Everything, from the sauces to the dressings, is made from scratch. I started with the truffled gnocchi appetizer, which was both fresh and delicious. Great little local place on Grand River. Just keep driving South past the chains and man, there's a lot of chains. This little gem will reward with homemade soups and sandos. I ordered the Reuben, which is always a good litmus test for any restaurant with aspirations. Theirs is served on two big pieces of rye (unseeded minus 1/2 star) from Zingermans bakery in Ann Arbor. It had an awesome crunchy griddle to it that gave way to the warm gooey center of corned beef and cheese. This charming and trendy restaurant has welcoming servers, large tables, and wonderfully unique dinner options. When I tried the Gnocchi dish for the first time, I was delighted to find a meatless option that was absolutely delicious! The dish featured handmade potato gnocchi, possibly fried and served in a sweet sauce. The salad was incredibly fresh and dressed with balsamic vinaigrette that was out of this world. My partner enjoyed their tomato soup with basil and cheese as well. Overall, everything we tried was incredibly tasty!
One of my favorite restaurants in Michigan. Pro: Service is amazing; I believe they taste all of the food on the menu and give you great suggestions. Food is great, fresh and you not only know you're eating healthy but you feel like you are eating healthy. Best mushroom soup I've ever had anywhere. Very creative menu; not your boring chili's restaurant. Con: Tables are pretty close so when they are slammed pack; like they usually are; then it's hard to get by. Some items are pricier than normal. There is not a location near me.
best night out! sa on the terrace, enjoyed the live band, and fabulous eating. we had the queso I highly recommend, walley taco, and tostadas. the strawberry basil limonade was so wonderfully refreshing! we cut off the night with flourless chocolate cake! the bathrooms were clean and well equipped.
