What can I say that others haven't already said? We go there so often we are treated like family. Everything is always impeccable - service, food, smiles, ambience....If you want a beautiful Italian meal in bustling Lygon St then this is where you must go. It's popular so you may have to wait at the bar for a very short while but their service is so fabulous you won't be waiting long. And you can have a glass of wine while you're waiting. No problem!!Like many of my reviews on Trip Advisor I write this one reluctantly as I would like to think I can always get a table. We dined here on a Saturday night and the place was full. They are very organised and we were seated upstairs at the back of the main restaurant - there is a bistro as well. I mentioned that I had noticed Lasagne on bistro menu and the waitress was very helpful and offered this to us even though they are two different restaurants. Well done guys! My husband really enjoyed it. I had the Gnocchi with pesto, which was delicious and our son had a pizza. My niece, who was dining with us, is vegan, and the waitress again was very helpful with this as well. It was appreciated. For a busy restaurant, we did not feel ignored and nothing was too much trouble.
Good-sized servings, pasta cooked perfectly. Nice choice of pasta sauces and the softest, puffiest, yummiest gnocchi. I've eaten here often with friends and family - mainly soups and pasta and I've never had a bad meal or been disappointed with the quality of the food or the quantity served. The service is usually prompt and friendly too - even when it's super busy. I prefer the original Tiamo rather than the Tiamo 2 next door.
This is a very well run traditional Italian restaurant in the busy Lygon St stretch in Melbourne. It has a lot of competition and so perhaps I was expecting more. It was certainly busy enough. The pasta was cooked well, but I was hoping for more taste. The wine list is also limited, and average. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it is reasonable value. There is no doubt about the key player of this restaurant, and that is the freshness of ingredients. Enjoying a meal in this restaurant its easy, and been very busy speaks for itself. Prices are average so not too heavy in your pocket. Would I go there again? Absolutely, and take your friends.
