Tokyo Wako has certainly fell well below what it used to be like. No good vibe or atmosphere when you walk in, the interior had an overwhelming smell of cleaning products, the teppanyaki chef had no personality and it was an overall underwhelming experience. I most likely won't be going back any time soon. It just felt so sad inside. Too bad.
I don't know how busy this place gets, but I when I went there there were a few people here and there, and my food was delivered speedy-fast, but with more people it would probably take a bit longer. Service was very friendly, and a very nice place in my opinion to sit back and hang out with family or friends.
Overall good experience. Haven't dined here since the late 2000's. A few minor changes in the cooking presentation (shrimp vegetables), but chef was lively and entertaining. Seemed ood that the restaurant wasn't as packed as it used to be. But that's a sign of the times with inflation and all.
We went for a birthday celebration for my son and daughter. The chef was fun, and the food was really good. So much so that we took some home to enjoy the next day. Definitely will be back. Réservez une table maintenant
This remains one of the best, most atmospheric spaces in Pasadena. Wonderful high ceilings, cool decor, a view to the courtyard below… Love it. And the food is delicious.

We had another great dinner at Tokyo Wako. Food was great and entertaining too. It is a bit expensive, but the experience is worth it!
