I am echoing the general sentiment in these reviews food is very overpriced. Taste was ok but at these prices and small portion sizes, you really expect much better. $10 per oyster. $15 for a bite sized prawn wrapped in betel leaf. $19 for a piece of chicken tikka (pictured, with about 100g of chicken), it’s obscene that 5 of these cost almost $100, which can get you an entire feed me menu at so many other amazing restaurants in Melbourne. $10 for a bowl of basmati rice I came here for a corporate lunch (i.e. did not choose this restaurant nor pay the bill) and I would never return on my own accord. Upon entering Tonka the décor welcomes you to an exceptional experience. The food, the wait staff the wines and the décor. Perfect match on all levels. Even the lighting was intimate yet functional. Recommendations by staff on food and wine were perfect and I could not find a dish I would have excluded, yet there were many I would have liked to try next time. Thanks to Jenny and Travis for your great service and knowledge
Food was good, tasty and different.... best asset. Cocktails were also of interest. Service was a little robotic going through motions. We over ordered on recommendation and could not experience deserts. Wine list is over the top on many fronts including price.
Apart from the great company, the service was exceptional, the vibe was amazing and the food Was fantastic. This was our third attempt to dine at Tonka and it was well worth the wait! I will definitely be back again.

The food was lovely and the service was fantastic. My only very minor criticism was just how dark it was in the restaurant; I know it is intended to create ambience but it was so dark I struggled to read the menu.
We enjoyed our meal immensely. It was a little to dark to read the menu without a flashlight! The staff made us feel very comfortable and shared plenty of knowledge with us.
Tonka was a fantastic experience, great ambience and service and the food was full of amazing flavours.
Love Indian food and prefer going out for lunch than dinner and it delivered what we expected.
