Torch Pressed Sushi

This sushi spot kept popping up all over social media and so we finally decided to give it a try. This location is within the Upper East market with Machi Machi among others) at the back. We ordered the Tasting Box bento and the Mix8 bento which is the same apart from the handrolls in the Tasting Box. They come with the 8 top seller aburi pieces, edamame, and a spicy seaweed salad. The handrolls in the Tasting Box was filled with toro and lobster respectively. I just want to say a special thanks to the staff for taking my last minute order. This place serves delicious food. I see people complain about the price, but to me, the quality matches the price. Though there are 2 things I would change… I’d suggest using a higher quality corn, and less sodium in the lobster so the lobster flavour can shine through. Oh, and the yuzu mojito made me smile so much! It was incredibly refreshing.Definitely worth noting is the fact that this place is NOT wheelchair friendly. Following social media highly recommendation, here I came. Tried the sushi tasting box, torch press sushi are top-notch, anything you can say is perfect, the presence, flavor, ingredients freshness are just fabulous. But the roll sushi is quite a bit greasy inside with the ingredients I can’t say. Luckily there are two roll sushi separately. Especially love the packaging of roll sushi, read the instructions and you’ll finally make a roll with crispy nori/seaweed. To be honest, a crispy nori really matters for a sushi. A bit difficult to find the place as it’s tucked away in the corner of the upper east food club.Got the Salmon Lover and the Tasting Box bentos. Both were packed very nicely, love the presentation however we ordered this as takeout and they did not provide us with any utensils.Torched sushi was delicious but it is really expensive and some of the rice was not put together tightly enough so it was falling apart while being picked up. The hand rolls were tasty but difficult at first to figure out how to get it out of the wrapper.The “spicy salmon bowl” in the salmon lover was our least favourite. This hidden gem is now located in the Upper East Food Club between Finch and Sheppard on Yonge alongside other food establishments. Torched Pressed Sushi lives up to its name and does an excellent job at serving delicious dishes. This restaurant specializes in torched pressed sushi, which can be a bit pricey, but the quality makes it worth every penny. The bentos are a great option, especially the Tasting Box or Mix8 which allow you to try a variety of items. The BBQ Unagi is a standout dish that simply melts in your mouth. Overall, Torched Pressed Sushi is a must-visit spot for sushi lovers.

This restaurant was my favorite place for pressed sushi, even though it was very small with only side tables for seating. However, during the pandemic, they relocated to Yonge Street and are now situated in a food court. I visited on a Monday afternoon and despite there being no lineup, it still took 25 minutes to get my food. I also noticed that the prices had gone up again. While the quality of the food is still decent, the experience of waiting in a food court for takeout makes the $80 price tag seem pricey.

My go to spot for sushi!! Absolutely LOVE this place. Their torched press sushi is perfectly made and presented every single time. The Wagyu Surf and Turf bowl is oh soo yummy!!!Just fyi its more of a Take Out spot… The store shares a space with about 3 other restaurants/dessert places resembling a cute hang out cafe. Street parking is available if you’re lucky!I highly recommend, it will definitely satisfy your sushi cravings!

Scored this amazing bento at just 19 CAD (tax included). Today's special features mouthwatering thick-cut salmon drizzled with unagi sauce. My daughter bought me take-out from Torch and I was blown away by how good it was! I love that there is a divider on their box. It just made it more presentable and organized. Would definitely go back once in the area again.

Great place for torched pressed sushi. They have set meal boxes so you can try them all. Service is quick and friendly, but not alot of place to sit because it's inside the shared space. Food is great!
