While in one of the most livable cities on the planet this restaurant is truly a not miss. The service was impeccable, the food was near perfect. And the atmosphere cannot be beat. Not only can you view your food being prepared, you also have the view of the Melbourne Skyline.It was 8 in the evening but my body clock knew it was 5 in the morning. That being said I decided to stay with the appetizer menu. Of which I had the South Bay oysters prepared two ways, raw and roasted. The best oysters I've ever had in my life. The South Bay Oyster is more like a scallop in texture. A true gift from South Australia. Then I tried those famous Australian bugs, otherwise known to us as crawfish. And ende...
What a great place to have a leisurely lunch with friends (a group of 9). The venue offers roomy seating, good views of the surrounding area and surprising (for the size of the establishment) has excellent acoustics (so hearing what was being said was not an issue).The floor staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient and went out of their way to make our dining experience a "good one"!. The menu is interesting and would cater for most eaters. Our group opted to go the "sharing menu" and we loved every mouthful - the food was fresh, well proportioned and tasty.Not a five star restaurant but definetly one I will return to, even if it's only for a drink and to gaze over the city sky scape.
My husband decided to take my daughter and I to the Taxi Kitchen on a recent visit to Melbourne. It's great location, in the heart of Federation Square put us amongst it all on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was outstanding. I ordered the Szechuan Duck which was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered one of the specials which he highly recommends. It was great that they also had a kids menu. Our daughter ordered the chicken breast and chips, which was a nice change from fried chicken. We were all highly impressed with the food and how reasonably priced it was. Highly recommend stopping in at the Taxi Kitchen. Very impressed indeed!
Went here as a celebration meal. Reserved a table for 8 pm but ended up there a little early. The host was not very helpful and directed us to wait at the bar til 8. She then totally forgot us and we had to ask the bar host about our table. He was much more of a help and we got seated at around 8.15. The food was served well, cooked well. We enjoyed the bao and char sui apps. Our mains were underwhelming - we had the soba and the duck. Average for the $ and the noodles could have used some spice. Its definitely a busy spot, more apt for bar seekers. We were disappointed on the food side as well as with the host. Would not return. $$$

We went for an Engagement Celebration and was first time for us all. The Service was outstanding. We have lived in in USA and travelled extensively and we all agreed that the service we received from Britney and the other servers was exceptional. The food was fantastic and we all had great meals. The meals were great value for money. Those that had the Duck and the Lobster said it was fantastic but too much food. What a change for a restaurant. We took our own special wine for a toast and were happy to pay the corkage. The staff were very accommodating. A Great Night was had by all.
This could be a sterile space as it is industrial in design. But the views and the warmth and friendliness of the service made it feel comfortable. The standout dishes were the bugs as appetizers and the gorgeous chicken which I had with cauliflower. Dessert was irresistible - dark chocolate, marshmallow, salted caramel and flowers!Highly recommended.
We have dinner on 2nd floor which not crownded like on 1st floor. This restaurant has nice ambience, friendly and well trained staffs. Chef provide all quality food and taste. Loved the fried cauliflower menu is so delicious, the beef truffle sauce menu are so tender and juicy. Recommended.
Spur of the moment decision while in Federation Square to have lunch at Taxi Kitchen. But excellent decision and experience. Pleasant atmosphere and very tasty and well cooked food. Not cheap but fair prices for good location and leaving satisfied and well fed. Would thoroughly recommend.

Very nice atmosphere with views over Swanson and Flinders streets. The staff were efficient and attentive. The food was delicious and there is a very wide choice. The beverages list is vast. A cocktail bar is available for casual imbibing rather than at the table.
