We had a family dinner here last Saturday and couldn't have been happier with our evening. The evening got off to a great start with a warm welcome on a freezing cold evening. The service was very professional - warm and helpful but unobtrusive. There is an extensive and expensive wine list but the sommelier guided us through it, suggesting wine that was suited to both our taste and budget. We were not disappointed, and experienced some wonderful new wines. Trattoria Emilia specialises in food from the Emilia Romagna area of Italy and that was the focus of the menu. There were so many wonderful dishes to choose from that it was hard to make a decision. We had the antipasti platter to share, which was full of delicious morsels, very traditional to the area; things I had seen in books but never encountered. Our main courses were outstanding. Everyone had something different and everyone raved about it. I had a risotto with aged Parmesan and pork ragu. It was one of those warm and hearty dishes, perfect for the time of year. There were so many traditional dishes from Emilia on the menu, but each of them had been given a special fine dining twist. We chose not to have dessert as we were full, and the staff were so polite and helpful about that too. All in all a wonderful evening. We will be back on our next trip to Melbourne.
