This is a review of two visits to a restaurant with inconsistent experiences. The first was magical, the second I wish to forget. The first was in May 2023, and our party of 2 had a wonderful evening. Exceptional service, outstanding food, delicious wine, and a lively but not noisy atmosphere. We enjoyed the house caviar, the mushroom tarts inspired and then my companion had the coq-au-vin “best chicken dish ever” and I had the lobster gnocchi. We finished with the coconut cake divine . For drinks, we started with cocktails the butter martini was extraordinary and a delightful bottle of Puligny Montrachet. This was my first dinner at Turner's and chose it for my husband's birthday. We ordered the special-fish and the lobster gnocchi. The fish was mushy and the gnocchi arrived cold. We asked to have it warmed up and it was brought out a second time cold as well. They finally removed it from our bill. I will have to say, the service was top notch and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. Not sure it was worth the price tag.
I rate this restaurant 5 stars because there simply isn't a restaurant that compares to turners in terms of environment,service,food and experience. What I have noticed about poor reviewers is that they complain about the smallest details. Don't let some of these reviews deter you away from this small gem that we are lucky to have in Houston!
Turner’s has always been on my list as a top restaurant. This time it was a disappointment. Food was fine but not at the caliber I expect. We had the artichoke soup, wedge salad, wagyu filet and skirt steak and the branzino. The prices are steep so the expectation is the dishes live up to the price tag. They did not.

An absolutely wonderful culinary experience! The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the surcharge that was added to the bill if you don’t pay in cash. Seriously? Who carries that much cash, but more importantly,…why?
Love Turners and have had great experiences before Friday. Service was very slow. Clam chowder was watery and too many peppers. Hit dig not up to usual quality. Mushroom tart was delicious! Will come back but hope they improve.
Every one is welcoming. Food is very palatable. A great dining experience from beginning to the end. Thanks to our waiter, Bryan, who made excellent choices on behalf of us. Highly appreciated!
We love getting to sneak away to Turner's! Such a wonderful atmosphere and a wonderful staff. Always a treat!
