"We made the 45-minute drive out to Tyrone Mills specifically because we enjoyed the butter tarts and donuts the last time we were there. And we weren't disappointed. Had our son with us, who bought one of the spicier hot sauces the store had. I'm glad I won't be around to see it taste-tested! We'll be back."

Friends and family visited Tyrone Mills as we heard wonderful things about the shop. The children delighted in visiting the wood shop upstairs and seeing the old fashioned tools, which were smartly labeled. Outside on the terrace is a view of the pond. We saw a crane! There are old Muskoka chairs to sit in and enjoy the view. The shop sells a variety of flours, corn meal, vegan and gluten-free products, has ice cream in cones for those hot days and bakery items. Pies, donuts, apple fritters and large cookies are for sale. Hot sauces and BBQ rubs are in the shop too. The patio is unique out front and a great place to enjoy your purchased treat. Looks like a fun spot to pick up Christmas gifts here.

I arrived there on a Sunday, at 10:30 and was somewhat disappointed that it didn't open until 11 AM. Nevertheless, I decided to wait. When I finally entered, I was somewhat disheartened that it was basically, just a shop with homemade products; no explanation on the mill's history, though there was a small exhibit of objects at the back of the building, and on the second floor. Now, I must admit the two who opened the mill were probably students; nevertheless, they seemed a little unprofessional. However, the cookies I bought were good.Maybe, it was just because it was Sunday;...

i heard about the amazing butter tarts here and knew i had to go, i was not disappointed. the butter tarts are amazing the pastry is perfect and the filling is sweet and gooey but butter tarts are not the only goodie offered. there are various fruit tarts equally amazing as well as jams, flours, meat pies and a huge selection of gluten free treats and prepared dishes. i am looking forward to my next visit!

If you are driving in this area, I suggest making the stop to Tyrone Mills. It will take you back in time to show you how fresh donuts (think tiny tims donuts but better tasting) are made, as well as try some Apple Cider. This place is great to visit at any time especially the fall. The drive down with the colours will make for a memorable experience.
