My family has always loved loved loved Vedder Sushi! It was the place in our household for sushi. But since going back after things returned normalish from Covid, it’s been extremely disappointing!! Their sizes have gone way down to the price of their food. Not only that but the quality as well. Most of the time their tempura has been soggy and not cooked long enough, leaving the yams extremely that’s to eat through. There rolls and sauces hardly hold any flavour. I know at times anyone could have a fail here and there. But we’ve given this place multiple tries and haven’t been happy with any of out visits. Sadly I think it’s time to find a new place. Sushi can be hit or miss. You would think it's not hard to make simple rolls but you try a million different places and they s#!t the bed.Vedder sushi knows what's up! They know the simplicity of flavors and combinations. Their chopped scallop roll is perfect. A mix of cucumber, masago and scallops. Delicious. Instant favorite.Their dynamite roll is the same way. Lots of avocado and cucumber inside. I always opt for no pollock meat in the dyno rolls.I also tried their lobster roll and hot damn! First time visitor, heard of it via a friend. Excellent service, fast preparation, food is delicious and fresh. Got to my car to discover they threw in an extra treat on the house. Will definitely be back. Update to my review, I have come to love stopping here for a roll and some nigiri on my way into the mountains and finding a nice spot outside along the road to enjoy the food. Today stopped along the river just outside of Clearwater and had a peaceful meal with the whole area to ourselves. The chef and servers as always kind and generous when I was ordering.
Food was good. I found it to be pricey compared to other places about $5 more. Combos similar were $12-$15 thier's was $19. So a big jump. Also the waitress was very rude seamed like I was a pain being there. Had to ask for even a drink to be brought after my food came. Never got a refill when asked and once my food was given I never saw her again. So that was a big disappointment and there was only me and another 1 person table.
No dine in right now but the food is still great and the staff is very friendly!! I ordered the Sakura roll which was a lot Spicer than I thought it would be but very delicious otherwise. The roll on the left is the salmon dragon roll. Super fast service too, my order was ready in around 15 minutes.
