The restaurant is in what was a horse stable until about 50 years ago. It is now quite charming. We had their three course menu. It started with a beef stock soup with small dumplings. That was wonderful. Some of the best beef soup either of us have ever had. I had to chuckle as we both said the same thing after our first taste wow! . Then it was on to braised beef with mixed vegetables and potatoes puréed with savoy cabbage. The sauce was deep, rich, and amazing. Very lovely dish. To close it was fresh fruit in Seco with sorbet floated on top. Ah, sigh. I can hardly wait until our next visit.

This is a less- known stop in the charming town of Deidesheim. Excellent value, bright minimalistic diningroom with arched ceilings, creative menu blending traditional specialties with healthful modern ingrediens/cooking techniques. I had Pike- perch fillet with sauteed savoy cabbage and sweet potato mash that was delicious and my husband had the traditional Saumagen platter that was a generous portion but also exceptionally good. We took a case of the Riesling home with us.

The outside Courtyard during the Wine festival provided a warm Tuscan backdrop to a splendid meal. The service was excellent, local wine superb and the food was freshly sourced and cooked to perfection. The location in the German Wine Street was quiet and secluded. HIghly recommended.

Nothing else was open, but like the rest of Deidesheim we found the reception pretty cool. At the end we asked for a tasting and got one. Ends up just buying a case of Riesling that was pretty good, but the chance of something else was limited.
