Last night we had the pleasure of dining at the West Coast Food House in Qualicum Bay. The atmosphere is a modern open style with three dining areas. There is a large modern bar in a central location with three TV for those that are interested in watching the game while they done. For those that are not, there is an adjacent dining area with large windows for a view outside.The menu is focused on local west coast cuisine. The options are limited, however our group had three different app's, a salad and 3 entrees, and not a poor choice was made. Visiting from out of town, this place was recommended by our hosts and the reviews cinched our decision to come here. We arrived for a weekday lunch, and were impressed with the daily special soup and sandwich as well as the blue cheese sliders. We liked it so much we came back the next day for a take out lunch consisting of chicken parm sliders, the wedge fries appetizer with blue cheese and the salad with candied pecans, goats cheese and vinaigrette. The food was all great - the menu is small but appetizing enough that we had a tough time deciding what to order. It seems like a lot of the food has local connections which is always nice when traveling. Highly recommended!
I have visited the West Coast Food House twice in the past week and have not been disappointed. The staff is very friendly. The menu is limited but I understand that new items are coming very soon. I had the daily special both times. The first was a chicken quesadilla which came with salad and coated wedge fries! Very tasty. Friends ordered the cod sliders and said they were awesome! The second was a toasted chicken sandwich with all the fixings plus red pepper jelly. Friends ordered the cod sliders and the chicken sliders. We all loved the fries and were presented with an extra plate to share! We will be back!
A group of friends went for lunch at West Coast Food House on a Wednesday. The restaurant was reasonably busy for a mid-week lunchtime. None of us had been to this restaurant before but all of us were extremely pleased with our food choices. I had the Pacific Cod slider... the fish was cooked to perfection with a nice crumb crust. Others had a variety of dishes including the seafood hot pot and the prawns with mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Lovely, airy, modern west-coast-vibe with a beautiful bar area, sports on the 3 big TV's,warm, friendly service and great food. This new eatery in Qualicum Bay is a winner!We stopped for lunch and although they offer only a limited menu (including a kid's menu) and a daily special there's something for everyone. I ordered the Twisted Shrimp and my husband had the Bison Sliders with crispy fries - both excellent! It's really nice to have a restaurant with great food close to home. We'll be back!
Sat at the bar and had a prawn appt which was superb. The bartender was very prompt and friendly even though he was obviously very busy. This restaurant is obviously a local favourite judging by the many across the room greetings as folks came and went. I will be back to try other menu items and I will definitely have those prawns again.
