For a restaurant situated right on the water in a community known for its fresh seafood, one would expect them to use locally caught fish. Unfortunately, the fish and chips I ordered were quite disappointing. The fish tasted as if it had been frozen for years and was nothing short of freezer burnt. It's hard to believe that a place like this can't do better! Additionally, when the supervisor claimed that this was their way of keeping prices down, I was baffled. I've dined at many local restaurants that offer lower prices and much higher quality food. It feels like they believe Sooke residents don’t know what good food is, but we do appreciate delicious meals, and West Coast Grill just didn’t...
As a restaurant located in the Prestige Hotel, they should aim to impress visitors to encourage them to return, not drive them away. Since this wasn't the first disappointing experience we've had here, I’ve resolved never to return. I’ve even jokingly asked my kids to remind me with a brick to the head if I ever suggest dining here again. Perhaps if they change management or acknowledge this review and make improvements, I would consider giving it another try. For now, I’m advising everyone to steer clear of this place. It’s incredibly disappointing, especially considering I live in this beautiful area with such an ocean view.
Was there for a wedding. The banquet room was organized with the head table facing the dance floor with the guests set at opposite ends on the left and right of the main table, made it very hard to see the groom and bride. The hotel only supplied one bar tender and the wait to just buy a beer was approx 20-30 mins, way to long. There ended up being more guests in the lobby area than in the banquet room mingulling.Very poor arrangement. The food was good and delivered right to your table. The poutine later was cold and most guests didn't know how to prepare so most just ate the fries.
I frequently suggest to our visitors to try West Coast Grill and they always tell me it was Amazing! The service is Fantastic and the Views are stunning! The food is fantastic and delicious! I had the lamb shank and it is over the moon Chefs kiss! I was incredibly impressed and just had to try the donut and cronots with a salted caramel sauce and cinnamon sugar it didn’t disappoint, Fabulous! The owner Val is lovely!!!! Fantastic food, drinks and service. I had the calamari and tuna burger and both were excellent in both taste and presentation. The drinks were also top notch and the service was kind and attentive. This was my one night out by myself on a 9 day trip with the kids and I picked the right place!
We arrived in town late but made it just in time for happy hour. We chose three items from the menu: calamari, Brussels sprouts, and chicken wings, along with a beer. That was all we needed. Our server was incredibly nice, and the booths provided a great space to relax and unwind.
We stopped here for lunch today with some family. It was a perfect day to sit outside. The service was fantastic but the food....that was amazing! The fish and chips are probably the best I have ever had. It was very pricy but very, very good. Réservez une table maintenant
