This is the first time Ive been to this hotel which is less than a ten minute drive from home.Initially I walked into the bistro which was completely empty and I was going to order the $14 Rump Steak. The lovely bar attendant advised me that I can get the same meal for $12 in the gaming area. Rather than be a "nigel nomates" I opted to go into the gaming area where there were many more patrons and therefore had more atmosphere.I then ordered the $12 200g Rump, Chips and Salad. Whilst only a simple meal it was not only superb but cheap so very well executed. All elements were perfect. The steak was a smaller but thicker piece and cooked medium and very tender, the chips were the chunky beer b...
The food at this restaurant is just average and overpriced for a typical pub meal. The atmosphere at the over 28s section is lacking, with little interest from those over 28 and barely 18-year-olds being allowed in. The dance floor is poor and the music played by DJs is not enjoyable. This place seems to cater to a specific group of people who are not interested in meeting others. It would be better if they rebranded as a venue for those with lower IQs, as those with higher IQs are likely to be bored by the lackluster environment. The dance floor and patrons only occupy a small portion of the vast empty space in the restaurant.
My family and I decided on here to eat dinner. They were catering a booking of about 30 people and obviously were understaffed as we had to wait an hour for entrees and no apologies for the 2 hour wait (still waiting) for mains for the 8 of us. I sit here now, hungry and pregnant with my equally hungry family watching food go out for a table and feeling pretty ignored by the waitresses. All in all, they need to improve the service and speed, I know the food itself isn't bad. Tonight has just been a disappointment.
This is the third time I have dined at the sports bar here and the third time I have had the rump steak special. Tender steak, crispy beer batter fries, nice salad and dressing and delicious pepper gravy.I keep coming back because the meals are cheap, steak is always excellent and tender and the beer is cold :) They have all day carlton dry schooners for $5.Its a sports bar so the ambiance isn't great but I'm sure to return whilst the steaks are consistently great.

Had a chicken parma with chips and salad. Salad was a few strands of lettuce with a couple of Spanish onion rings and one tiny thumb sized piece of tomato... With a small dollop of a creamy dressing. Chips were nice but a bit fatty tasting. Parma was quite large but way too many crumbs Vs chicken...... The sauce on it was nice , cheese was good. Not worth. $14 but good atmosphere to eat in. if you like pub food, well, there you have it. The Westend might not be the classiest place you have been to, but I agree with some other readers......I've had better steaks here than in other, more expensive spots.........and if you want to dance, then you can go to the club next door. Again, not high class, but they have current music, cheap drinks, and more importantly, nobody will bother you.........
I had such a good and cheap Rump Steak meal about a month ago I thought I would try it again.Same result- nice tender steak with fat chips and salad and well presented.Girl who served me was quite surly but otherwise very enjoyable again.One of the few places though that dont accept credit card. Really need to get with the times.
After hearing about this restaurant we were looking forward to having dinner here.
