Not the closed up or sealed kind you find in dim sum (or dian xin) restaurans, which are sometimes known as yum cha restaurants.I like the open bao where you can see the stuff that's makes up the filling. This stall at the Fremantle Markets (closer to the fresh food section) serves a wide variety of bao. I consider this "food to go, and food for the on the go types". It is quick to eat and healthier than a burger, or so it appears, but yet to be scientifically proven. Much depends on what sort of fillings one chooses. The options on the menu is wide, and the seasonings tasty. A fun one for those who enjoy a different experience, eating at a market, or eating standing up with friends and family.With the small portions, it is more of a "taster" type of meals, or a snack. For those who are used to the portions of foot long subways sandwich would likely need a double order which then makes this meal a pricey one.
.....was this the first time I've ever had a bao?! 2nd day in Perth and I was advised to come here and it did not disappoint! Soft shell crab, duck and pork belly!! Alas I did not eat all three as I reluctantly shared with my girlfriend, but I will be back (alone) to have all three for myself!!!Great stuff!!
I had never had a bao before but will definetly again. A lovely light bread style or dumpling style open bun..Hard to describe, as so unusual but delicious..i had a pork belly one and it was devine. Do try if at the Freemantle Market Hall.

We visited the Fremantle Markets on easter weekend and randomly choose to have a brisket Bao. Cooked on the spot, fresh and hot. Took me back to Vietnam. They do provide a small discount if you buy 3 or more.
How can you resist bao? So fresh & delicious and with an impressive menu on offer its hard to only pick one!

Way too expensive for something like this! $18 for two bao is just outrageous! I tried the Singaporean chilli crab and Taiwanese Gua.
Tried to order from them but they continued to cancel my order. Extremely annoying and no explanation given. NOT RECOMMENDED.
