If you’re visiting from outside Canada, you may not realise that this restaurant’s name, which translates to “Wilfrid on Laurier [Avenue]”, is a pun on the name of celebrated Canadian prime minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Clearly, the team at Wilfrid sur Laurier has a sense...of humour, which (I hope) also explains the so-bad-it’s-funny artwork festooning the walls. However, the food is no joke, decidedly above-average for casual restaurants at this price level. Landed here by chance after blenching at the line outside Faberge. Impressions very good. Great, open, airy dining room, nicely appointed. Art on the walls for decoration rather than for artistic merit. Brunch menu is unusual and inviting, with unusual fruit and vegetable salad combos...to accompany pig done various ways. we always feel great after discovering a hidden shade. I know it sounds cliché, but that's a definitive one. decor was simple, reflective montreal culture. for some it may be a little less exciting. but we felt very comfortable. the music was good...selected the service was excellent. good recommendation on basis of each of our preferences. all ingredients were remarkably fresh. great dinner at a large neighbourhood, mainly visited by locals. had two excellent main dishes. the first scallops with roasted cauliflower, johannisbeeren and any kind of cream was amazing. amazing combination and the scallops were perfectly cooked. my wife had a zucchini-based vegetarian. that was also really good. sat in the outdoor back terrace that was really comfortable. the service was very good with very good knowledge about the very affordable weinlist. a total value for this quality of food. my only complaining was that the appetizers were too salty. if not for the salt, the salate and the garnel appetizer (with quinoa and avocado) would have been excellent. I frequent restaurants on average 3-4 times per week, 52 weeks per year. This is most definitely my worst restaurant experience ever. From the outset, there was confusion in seating us...misordered coffees after a 30 minute wait. This after waiting 15 minutes for water in...the empty glasses that we started with. Our waiter, who also sat us, kept trying to seat others for what reason I am at a loss of understanding since they are incapable of serving. After almost an hour of waiting for our food we upped and left without eating as my appetite had vanished with all the pent up tension. Stay away!...you've been warned!

Excellent place. Cozy atmosphere, AMAZING food!!! only reason why I am giving this a 4 instead of a 5 star is the wine list could use a lot of help. If you want a bottle to go with a meal, you can find one, but...donèt expect to be wowed by anything on the wine list. For the price though, much better value than you can get anywhere else nearby. The shrimp starter was simply delicious, and the duck main was cooked to perfection. Couldnèt ask for much more.

Very good restaurant was the food delicious and very good service. We made the reservation online and give birthday and the server never comment on the event.: Our server was very nice, but NOT friendly at all. He didn't even smile all night and definitely NOT friendly. I'm going back because the food is good and see if I'm gonna get a smile and maybe a conversation with my server?

Oysters were rubber, white wine was served warm, the scallops were to cooked...so the dinner was wasted.And way too expensive for the poor quality of the products. I will never go back there and won't recommend for sure.
