We went here for our wedding cake and had a very upsetting experience with them.It started with our cake tasting. When we showed their manager our cake inspo, he said that if his team cannot do it, he will fire them. This immediately made us feel uncomfortable and make Willow seem like a very toxic employer. As a Niagara local, this is not unheard of unfortunately.Once we signed our contract for our cake we were ghosted for SIX WEEKS. Our wedding planner had to reach out on the week of our wedding to see if we were even going to get a cake after weeks of emailing to follow up. I went here for the first time today and I’ve heard amazing reviews about this place so i thought i’d check it out but when i got my baked goods they weren’t as good as expected. I got a peach cheesecake, coconut cream tart, an eclair and a ham cheese croissant. The ham cheese croissant was the only thing that was amazing. The others were lacking flavour to say the least. The coconut cream tart was dry/crumbly and had absolutely no flavour and like it had been sitting in the case for a while. The eclair filling tasted like plain whip cream with no sugar in it and the peach cheesecake had no peach flavour despite there being peach slices on top. This isn't a dedicated gluten free bakery, but they do have 2 gluten free cakes that I ordered for my wedding in Niagara on the Lake. I have Celiac Disease but am on the less sensitive end of the spectrum, so I decided that the risk was acceptable for my wedding day (since there were no other options in the area at the time. Now Edible Options could do it. I wouldn't pop in here for just a slice of carrot cake, but since this is such a big wedding area I thought my experience might be helpful to someone else. The cakes themselves were both excellent and they delivered them right to the hotel so I didn't have to worry about it on my wedding day.
We ordered our wedding cake and mini desserts from Willow Cakes and not only were they insanely delicious but they were SO pretty! Our wedding cake looked exactly like our inspo picture and we received so many compliments on it. We also ordered a lemon raspberry slab cake to serve to our guests in addition to the carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake and cheesecake minis. Sean was great to work with and was so helpful throughout the process. Highly recommend!!
Gem of a place! I go their multiple times a week to get a cappuccino and one on their amazing buttery ham cheese croissants and a ‘treat’ ginger cookies, florintine bar, gluten free cupcake etc) on occasion I get a sandwich-all have been great quality and the baked goods are outstanding! It is our family go to place for baguettes and birthday or special occasion cakes! I highly recommend trying this spot as you drive in or visit NOTL.
Went in today and got a chocolate chip cookie, peanut butter toblerone cheesecake, and the peach cheesecake. The chocolate chip cookie was alright, not great. It was a bit crumbly and not chewy. The peach cheesecake was just alright as well, but the peanut butter toblerone cheesecake was amazing. Super light and delicious, so I recommend getting that. A bit disappointed with the other two though. Would love to go again and try more.
