I've written a review before where I said that Yarra Lounge is boringly good. But something has changed (for the worse) and needs to change back.In my last review I said it would be nice if they ramped up the menu a bit. I stick by that comment. The food last night seemed to lack seasoning and was overly oily too.And the change that is required is that of the staff. It was dead quiet in there last night, and usually the place is packed. While we were there, the staff were highly inattentive. When our food had been served, they left the empty plates on our table for about an hour. I watched one of them wander around back and forward, back and forward, just staring down at the ground.Not once...
Nestled right in the heart of yarraville this place is very buzzy, both inside and out. Upon arrival we waited for a long time to be seated, when finally seated, waiter showed little interest in our group. Table was not wiped down after previous diners. We were left with an empty bottle of water. We had to grab menus from another table. Basically you have to fend for yourself. Food came out quickly, plates provided were chipped. Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Quite simple for tapas but this might suit certain tastes I'm sure. We all wanted desert but they had sold out off ALL deserts. Dropped in for an early lunch on a Saturday. Good advice from the waiter saw us order the perfect dishes to sate our appetites. Lamb kofta in a spicy tomato sauce & crusty bread, salt & pepper calamari with a coriander yoghurt & hommus with flatbread. My calamari was succulent & tender (& lots of it!), hommus freshly made & tasty & from all reports the lamb was delicious (although I didn't get to taste it!). Washed down with a crisp glass of Curlewis Chardonnay from the owners winery & an icy pale ale. The wait staff are knowledgable & attentive & the chef knows her stuff. A great place to wile away a few hours & soak in the vibe of Yarraville Village.
Overlooking the sun theatre and the communal grass area the Yarra Lounge is the ideal place for a drink and some tapas. We ordered the eggplant chips, chicken and beef skewers - the food was tasty and served hot. The service and friendliness of the staff was outstanding, especially Ryan behind the bar. The furniture however did not allow for free movement and was congested when busy.The buzz of harmony at Yarra Lounge is the definite place to be.

Came here with a friend today. Ordered the calamari, priced at $13. What arrived was a platter suitable for a 6 year old anorexic girl. My friend ordered the $17 souvlaki and was also met with disappointment. The food was also quite average, you would think for that price it would be amazing but it wasn't. If you are thinking about going here, I would suggest going to McDonalds as you would receive better value for money over there.
The tapas here is all goodThe only let down was the tuna wasabi dip which seems to be canned tuna and mayonnaise with a blob of wasabi on the topIt wasn't bad just a let down compared to the other amazing combinations Highly recommend the eggplant chips and lamb cutlets
Watch the Yarraville world go by from a seat in the window, overlooking he village park. Try the lentil Dahl (ask for some spicy chilli to stir through), or the best-in-the-west saganaki. Good range of local beers and friendly, funky staff.
The food here is wonderful and fresh to eat and the staff are always friendly the atmosphere here is always busy as Yarraville is always full to the brim on weekends it is a lovely place to come here for a drink before you go...More

Super casual, with tapas style food. Great for a pre-movie drink and snack or a post movie drink or snack, get a seat outside too if it's warm enough and people watch for a while.
Every time we go to the sun theatre he insists on eating here. He loves the tapas and I love the sangria. Our favourite tapas is the meatballs. Service is usually quick.
