we were here recently and thoroughly enjoyed his ambiente, traditional farewell and warm hospitality. this historical restaurant (circa 1790) oozes bona fide old world charm with its uneven floors, miraculous treppen, roaming kaminen and antique furniture. the cranberry feeds, served at the beginning of the meal, with freshly lubricated maple butter were delicious. for appetitzügler we have a tasty lobster bisque, a delicious crab shrimp cocktail with a piquant cocktail sauce, a mixed leaf salad with a zingy balsamic vinaigrette tangy blue cheese crumble and not least a cheddar ale onion suppe par excellence. the latter was served in a rustic oven proof-crock dish that kept the suppe warm, t...
We had a nice culinary experience that almost didn't happen. We're from NY and went to Vermont for the day. It was a beautiful day for a ride and leaf of peeping. We had a late breakfast. but we were hungry at 3:30. We were looking for a place to eat. We found the Ye Old Tavern, which was opened at 4:30. We killed some time and were in the parking lot at 10 a.m. We waited until about 4:25 and then went to the door. The door was still closed. My Mary Pickford cocktail was served in a vintage stemmed glass, adding to the nostalgic vibe. The cranberry-apple crisp had a rustic texture that felt homemade. My sirloin steak was delicious and cooked perfectly to my liking. The vegetables were steamed just right, not too firm or too soft. The service was excellent - the staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly enjoyed their work. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the restaurant.
Wow! So much history in this place. We were very friendly on arrival and were immediately set. The restaurant was just about to be in full capacity. Our server, Larissa, introduced himself and told us about the daily specials. After the order she got the food for us at a good pace. As soon as we made appetizers with him, the salad came and then the meal. We had the New York, apple-sider and cranberry chicken, calf liver and chicken masala. All were delicious. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Larissa greeted me with the specials and made delicious drinks. I would give this place a perfect score of 10/10. The history, staff, prime rib, and service were all exceptional. Make sure to try the Espresso Martini before you leave! I am a picky New Yorker and I left very satisfied. PS. Jeanette is incredibly welcoming and truly a gem.
