First let me start by saying we are not Asian. This is important to note, because I feel that some of these places are cast off and ignored by the non Asian community who assume oh it's only for Asians. Not true and I assure you that if you think this way you are missing out. My boyfriend and I love seafood and wanted a nice seafood dinner as a treat. I looked at some steak and seafood places (we are off meat at the moment) and they all predominantly focused on meat with the seafood prices being quite extravagant. We actually stumbled upon Yu Seafood when we opted to try the Vegetarian Asian restaurant in the same plaza. A little while after that we decided to look up Yu Seafood online to see the menu. They offer set meals for 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 people etc. We saw online a nice lobster option for $118. We thought this was not unreasonable actually quite a bit less than the steak places for seafood. 2.5 lb lobster done in different ways and you also get soup for 2, greens, rice, and a sashimi platter to start. The restaurant is really nice and the service was unbelievable. Terrance, not sure maybe he's a maitre de...he stayed with us while we looked at the menu and answered all of our questions. Then checked on us throughout the entire meal. The service is constant, they are always switching plates for you so your plate full of shells gets taken and you have a fresh one. Here another great thing. You can bring your own wine. They only charge for the 2nd bottle corkage fee (which is $15 and totally worth it.) We happened to have a bottle of our favourite wine at home already and since we only needed one bottle for the 2 of us, there was no fee. That's like saving $50 at least because we would have ordered a bottle of wine. First course is sashimi platter and it was excellent. Very good quality. The presentation of the food is stunning. Every course. After that we had soup, then 2 courses of lobster - one done in ginger and green onion and the next done with a hollandaise sauce and cheese. Plus we each got 2 scallops and a jumbo shrimp (plated separately) in the most delicious sauce. A huge plate of greens we could not finish and also a huge plate of seafood fried rice we could not finish. When you're done and full they bring you a nice plate of fruit with the bill. Oh yes my boyfriend also ordered a half dozen oysters for $20 as an appetizer which he said were really good. Our bill with tax came to $155 (which includes the oysters which we would probably not bother with next time.) We left with the rice and greens almost a full soup. I really think the value is excellent. The food is delicious, the presentation is outstanding and the service - phenomenal. We will treat ourselves again here in the near future for sure. We also felt it would be a great place to go with a large group. Especially since they allow you to bring your own wine. Highly recommend.

I've been here about 6-7 times now, and have tried the King Crab 5 times. It's quite a treat, and it's decent value if you have it a lunch time. They usually have a special on the smaller King Crabs (5-6lbs) and will do the 4 course meal for 4 @ $180. Having King crab for that price is quite a good value, though probably not something you could do every day, or even once a week without hurting your wallet. One time they didn't have that special, so it resorts to the normal price/lbs, and that could get very expensive. Their lobster is also very good, as well as their dim sum.The interior of the restaurant is very upscale. It's a place to see and be seen. The clientele is definitely of the upper crust variety. They used to sell memberships for $20K, in which you get your own private room, and draw down your $20K until it's finished. Too rich for my blood, but I'm sure there were lots of people that did that since there's a certain exclusivity to be able to do that.Overall, I would come here for special occasions, but I wouldn't consider this an everyday place due to the higher level cuisine (and thus pricing.)

Yu Seafood is an incredible place. It is super pretty with well spaced tables. I boasts over 10 tanks of shellfish ready to cook, the most fresh fish market and a sushi Chef! I know this sounds crazy in a Chinese restaurant but like everything multi cultural in the Toronto area it works. I often go here for the really creative dim sum and truly order all of it but some of my favourites are the sweet topped pork buns, steamed dumplings with greens or the ones with cashews. Do not miss a cool noodle dish and truly the lobster and crab are incredibly cooked and presented. Dinner at Yu Seafood is awesome. My only issue is that they keep the lights too bright for a truly relaxing experience which I personally expect in a high end restaurant. I hope you enjoy it here. @joannasable on Instagram

Seven of us had a great dim sum here. The place is modern, trendy and clean. The dim sum is quite special with many of the standard fare having extra little fusion additions. The quality was generally good although the octopus tentacles were a little tough. Prices were reasonable. Service was good. We will be back.
