Zaaki is a tiny room in the Uptown area of New Westminster that serves Middle Eastern food. This is not a donair shop, of which there are plenty in New West. Zaaki serves a small but varied menu of chicken shawarma, beef kebab, and wonderful freshly made falafal in either a pita wrap or a platter. There are also soup, many side dishes, including a very tasty mutabbal (similar to baba ganoush), several kinds of small savoury pastries, and some delicious desserts. There are two small tables and some stools at the window. The proprietors are very friendly. I will definitely be back with my spouse so we can get several things to share.
Just discovered this place when a friend recommended it. It appears to be a one-man run restaurant with simple and very tasty food. I love the chicken platter. Very reasonably priced and great portion size. When it's busy you have to wait a while. I've tried calling in to order ahead but he doesn't answer because when it's busy. It's worth the wait. Yummy homemade food but only a few tables. More of a take-out kinda place.
I've been there once. I had a chicken shawarma platter. It was very delicious and big enough to get full. They also do beef kebab, falafel and other sweet dishes. The menu is not that big but simple. Seating arrangement is bit crampy, I would say. Its on 6th and 6th.The owner was very friendly and courteous. I would definitely go back and check other dishes.
A small eatery offers the most appetizing packages. We tried the chicken-shawarma wrap filled with a very generous part of chicken, freshly roasted, tenderly served with crispy veggies, tangy pickles and garlic cream. Yummy! Add to this Wissam smile and help, at reasonable prices. Don't miss it!
