This was my second time at Zaffron and while it was a good experience, the cost is not justified. I’m not sure if prices went up since I last came, but $40 for 3 shrimp, 2 scallops, and some veggies with rice is unacceptable. I ordered the shrimp and scallop kebab expecting to get 2 filled skewers only to be yearning for more. My wife got the veggie kebab which also felt overpriced at over $20. I guess it makes sense the online menus don’t have prices. And to boot, the hummus appetizer is clearly served with too little pita, for which they’ll charge extra for each pita serving. While the food is decent, I can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon based on all of this.
The food is excellent. However, I was disappointed to find that requesting additional bread for our table of two resulted in an extra charge. There wasn’t much bread provided initially, and this fee was never mentioned. I've dined at many upscale restaurants before, and I’ve never encountered upcharges like this, even on previous visits to this one. The waitress this time was average and not up to the standard of my previous experiences. I do appreciate the owner and other staff members, though. Additionally, the outdoor seating area could use some sort of bug deterrent, such as a candle or a fan, to help minimize the constant swatting.
The service, food, and atmosphere here are absolutely fantastic. I dined solo this evening and was met with incredible care and hospitality. The owner personally greeted me several times, and the staff were all exceptionally friendly. Everything is farm-to-table, so expect a bit of a wait for your food, but it’s definitely worth it for the freshness and quality. You absolutely must visit this place—you won't be disappointed. The desserts were delicious, but the apaptizers and chicken kabob left much to be desired. I need more flavor than that. It tasted like the tatziki was premade as it was bland, there was no seasoning on the chicken or veggies and it barely had that lovely grilled flavor that I look for in a kabob.
