Had a break between baseball games at Skip Wilson Field so we decided to try Zakes based on proximity and Google reviews. I called ahead and even on a Sunday midmorning they were able to seat us right away. The restaurant is in a converted stone house so there is a unique charm to the surroundings. We were seated on the enclosed porch which was nice, I prefer to eat outside but this was fine. After sitting for a few minutes our drink order was taken then shortly after our waitress took our order. Their menu is what you expect for a breakfast and lunch place. I had a pleasant experience at this brunch spot. However, the service could use some improvement; perhaps we just happened to visit on a bad day with an unpleasant waiter. I ordered pumpkin pancakes with a fruit bowl on the side, but when I pointed out that the fruit was missing, it only arrived when I was nearly finished with my meal. Not only did he not apologize, but he also placed the fruit on the table with an attitude and left without a word. This delightful café is filled with charm and a genuine passion for food and art. It features a cozy covered balcony, a spacious main dining area, and a few tables by the bakery. We visited on a Monday around 1:30 PM, and it was lively without feeling overcrowded. By 2 PM, it was wonderfully calm and relaxing. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings, and the all-day brunch menu is fantastic, offering a diverse range of Asian-influenced classic American dishes. They also have great specials!
First timer stopped by not knowing what to expect ordered the eggs special (2 eggs with home fries, pork links) ordered the eggs lightly scrambled with feta and to my surprise the kitchen over delivered the eggs were perfection and the feta was melted perfectly (not simply tossed on top as an afterthought as I’ve received many times) outstanding breakfast…great, strong coffee paired with excellent service and a lively, engaged and adult crowd. Wi Fi was added bonus as I had my laptop with me.

Awesome vibe, humble and down to earth owner. The food was amazing. I had the avocado eggs Benedict and it was a fun twist on a classic. The eggs themselves were art and the flavors of the dish let you know each individual part was there, but blened well and didn't clash. Best eggs Benedict I've had yet!
I loved my meal here, poached eggs with crab cakes. We had excellent and friendly service and the pastries are delicious too. I?ll be going back to try other items on the menu. As a heads up, during Covid, the place keeps breakfast and lunch hours from about 7:30a to 3:00p or 3:30p.
Zakes Cafe made the most delicious and beautiful carrot cake for our wedding. My husband and I love carrot cake and this was the best we?ve ever had. We?re looking forward to our one year anniversary so that we can eat the rest!

I ordered the coconut French toast, and it was amazing! My friend got a side of potatoes, which were delicious as well. She also really enjoyed her meal. I would definitely go back!
I?m a regular here. Amazing fresh quality food, friendly staff. Cute atmosphere. The eggs Benedict with home fries is to die for!!
