Zalathai Restaurant

My wife told me about this place. She works in Nanaimo once a week and occasionally goes there for lunch. They have plenty of gluten free options for her. We were heading out to a show and she suggested we go for dinner at Zalathai beforehand. Well I am sure glad I did. What a GREAT place!!The service was outstanding. Very pleasant and respectful staff. A great menu, full of many gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options, etc. Most of the choices can be made GF, dairy free, or vegan, etc. My wife had the GF Pad Thai and I had the Green Curry with tofu. What a lovely surprise Zalathai Thai Restaurant is. This intimate restaurant is tucked away in downtown Nanaimo and offers great food at a good price. We ordered a selection of dishes to share and were happy with all our choices. Of note, were the Angel Wing appetizer and the prawn and noodle dish. Our server was run off her feet although kept a smile on her face and a pleasant attitude no matter how busy she was. Fabulous restaurant and although this was our first visit, we will definitely be back!

Very tasty starters and curries here, the pad Thai was great. Reasonable prices. Not the nicest inside but quite the norm for Asian cuisine for Nanaimo. Seats are uncomfortable and decor very basic, but the service was great, very friendly staff. Service a little slow but we just kept our waitress busy and she did get the drinks out and then The food came soon after. Overall a good meal and really enjoyed the evening.

You have to do a little work to find this place but believe me, it's worth it. If you like Thai food at it's authentic best, then this is the place. Husband and wife operation with some help from a fellow from Thailand. Beef salad, pad Thai and curries were awesome. My son in law is a chef from Bangkok so I know of what I speak. Highly recommend this place if good authentic food is what you're after in Nanaimo. Réservez une table maintenant

Awesome food with lots of variety and flavor. Some of the best Thai dishes I have had in a long time. The pad Thai was refreshing and light. They has some great seafood dishes as well.Highly recommended and definitely underrated.The service was exceptional as well. They stayed open late when they understood we had traveled late and from out of town.

We had trouble spotting the restaurant from the street while driving. There weren't parking space directly in front of the entrance. We had to park further away up the hill. However, once we tasted the food, we were simply blown away. Zalathai definitely offers really good thai curry that you won't disappoint.

Excited to try this place due to good reviews and a taste for good thai food.Ambiance was dark/unappealing. Location pretty central and easy to find.Staff friendly, prices way higher than they should be, and the food was mediocre at best.Doubt we will return.

I enjoyed green chicken curry and Lime Leaves Wrap. Wonderful food enough for two. Prices are good, service fast.

Excellent lunch. The beef salad is amazing and the service was very nice. We will be back for more very soon.
