We love Mexican cuisine so it was a relief to find that Australia has its own Mexican chain restaurants, like Zambrero. They are not as good as a real high quality home-style Mexican food but they deliver consistent, fresh and tasty Mexican dishes. This was the first location we visited and we've been going back to other Zambrero locations after having a good meal at the right price here.
The title says it all. The food's neither bad nor good. (hence the 3 stars), it is however, ridiculously overpriced. If it was half the price, I would probably go back, as its quick and convenient and tastes better than moosst of the other places in the food hall. Not a great deal to recommend it by though as we're comparing it to the likees of McDonalds, Hungry Jacks and KFC.
Ordered kids bowl and kids veg quesadilla.Got no tortillas with bowl and was given meat quesadilla instead of veg. But they kindly adjusted price.Quesadilla was over done and crispy hard. Kid couldn't eat it. Staff were busy and not working as 1 team. They seemed to not know what each other was doing and didn't seem to want to help each other. Sad...
Paid about $10 for a vegetarian burrito, which I have had from other places and been very impressed with, but not this time. This one did not contain beans, just a little smear of 'bean paste', I even went back to the counter to see if they had forgotten to put my beans on. Wasn't much more than a lukewarm wrap of rice, lettuce and sourcream. Réservez une table maintenant
I like Zambrero and have been to several across the country. Cairns Central is the worst. Poor service and poorly made Burrito by comparison to all others I have been to. Also was charging a 25% premium on the price of a new energy drink they were promoting ($5.90 for a 110ml bottle).
Restaurant reminded me of "Chipotle" Back home in USA. I tried the vegetarian burrito bowl with black rice . Quantity is actually less for the price, but tastes really good. Friendly service...
Start with a $10 bowl and end paying over $16.00. Cheese for $1.00 and it would of fitted on a 50 cent piece. Flavour okay but won't be back at these prices.
Great tasty food. Clean and well presented. Always tasty and filling. Bowl food is good. Would love real chicken pieces not mushed chicken. Réservez une table maintenant
So good and tasty. Really liked Quesidillas. Had the chicken one. Staff friendly. And food is tasty. Would recommend. Love Mexican. ????
