Let's be serious for a min now.. anyone expecting for this place to be the most amazing sushi they ever had will be disappointed. It's not. HOWEVER... Keep in mind the fish is fresh and the service was amazing! The BBQ short ribs are definitely worth the trip! People need to understand you can get different quality of sushi. It it rotten no just different quality. Personally speaking to the owner they have a great understanding of buying the best quality they can and still manage to turn a profit. Remember it all you can eat! The portions don't need to big just order more. I highly recommend this place. once again the staff are Great and you definitely get more then they charge.
We ordered delivery(took an hour and a half) and upon arrival the driver called from outside and when I got to the door he was still sitting in his car waiting for us to come get the food. (Note to self: do not pay with tip before food gets delivered) When I got the food our order was wrong.. 2 of the 4 rolls were correct. The tempura was cold and soggy. The food itself was old and we couldn't even eat it without gagging. We might as well have thrown 65$ in the trash can and called it a day. I do not recommend this restaurant and I would not order from here again. The thought of taking another bite of their food makes me sick to my stomach.
Went for daughter's birthday, she loves sushi!! Wish there is a buffet sushi like in the US as it would be much faster. The service is soo slow.. All you can eat but with limited time to 2 hours only, plus slow service, it is not really AYCE. My children ate everything which was placed in front of them and we kept waiting to order more but there was no one around to order.. One of my children fell while walking around the table as the floor was wet after being cleaned. No sign being put up to warn people. Lucky nothing really bad happened. The food was ok however, I am looking around for a better sushi place option.
The service at Zen was amazing. (If you ignore the fact that Amy appears to be the only one actually working here). Late food, missed dishes at a few tables, and the food was not great. I didn't order anything too complicated, and maybe I've been spoiled, but as Japanese food goes, there is much better to be found in Edmonton. Maybe their kkitchen staffs people who lost their jobs at good Japanese restaurants. Hint hint. Zero fault of the serving staff. They're doing their best in a place that is amazingly busy, so perhaps the kitchen has become complacent...

I came here with a bunch of friends, then again a few weeks later with my sister, then for dinner with my fiancé. It's amazing. The only thing I hate about sushi restaurants is how expensive it can get, but this one is great since it is all you can eat for $30! We ordered almost everything on the menu at least once by now, and everything was pretty good. The Sashimi is fresh, and the rolls are nice and well made. All the warm foods are also amazing. I highly recommend going for dinner if you love sushi and are adventurous to try new foods!
Went here for a friend's birthday, and was pleasantly surprised at the sheer selection on the menu! They had all the traditional sushi and sashimi...super fresh, with no fishy aftertaste. But I was blown away by the "deep-fried sushi"! I know, I know...deep-fried isn't real sushi...but it was just so darn tasty! They also had plenty of cooked choices, so both the sushi newbie and the pro could feel comfortable. The manager and staff were all so nice and friendly, too. I will be back.
Was looking for a buffet Japanese Restaurant aside from the one we knew. upon searching in the internet - Zen Sushi & Grill shown up!Food was ok but doesn't have that much of choices compare to the other restaurant. Ice cream is not part of the eat all you can and the green tea as well. (sad part because those are part of the price in the other resto) Staff are very friendly and the ambiance is good as well! Can give the restaurant a 3.5 star :)
Hubs and I were driving up Calgary Trail, and thought to stop in for some sushi. The staff are amazing. Engaged us in conversation, they were attentive and speedy. We did not realize it was "all you can eat", but when we did, figured, "why not?"The menu is robust and comprehensive, the food was fresh and fastUltimately, we would probably not come back for a couples night, but may come back as a part of a group

We were there on Friday night, were charged the weekend rate. It cost us $134 for 4 people - way too much, considering that we left and were not even full. The portions are getting so much smaller, the service is very slow, they do not check if everything is fine with the food. Half of the order is not being delivered. Not sure if we are coming back, there is some better options in town
Loved eating here with family. Sushi was amazing. We normally go to red deer for sushi buffet but overall we love Zen
