We found La Chaumerie by accident, walking in old town of Antibes. The restaurant seems very old and tired. Cuscus tasted ok.

I have been here because of a dinner with friends.I don't like couscous, so I said "OK, let's take an entrecote (steak). It's just something you have to put on the grid.".When they brought me the plate, I felt an INCREDIBLE, TERRIBLE smell and I have sent back the plate. I am sure that if I had eaten that steak, I would have felt bad. I did not ordered anything else because I was seriously disgusted. The man, at least, did not let me pay anything.I am sorry but I will never, ever come back in this place again.

We thought we might find a different type of restaurant around the gendarmerie, and we came across La Chaumiere - the atmosphere is cosy and the owner (and possibly his son) were very welcoming. Our first visit was in an evening on an earlier trip and we were beaten by the portions, so this time it was off season and cooler so we went for lunch in the knowledge that we could "walk it off". The mixed Tagine was delicious and we would certainly go there again.

Very friendly excellent food not expensive .fresh products really try it if you like North African food. Like everybody said on trip advisor massive portions .good luck if you can finish it. Well done

We were tired of French food and wanted to try something different. We like African food and the few reviews sounded promising. This was a nice restaurant. Definitely off the beaten path. The servers were nice, didn't speak any English but we were able to figure out what to order. The portions are huge! We ordered the Chevre Chaud salad to share. It was very good but it was covered with too much dressing for my liking. I should have asked for it on the side. I had the Couscous Royal and it was a ton of food! I couldn't finish it even with the help of my husband. It came with three meats on the side, a huge bowl of broth and veggies, and a big plate of couscous which I was only able to eat half. The lamb was tender and juicy as was the chicken. I couldn't eat the sausage or meat ball. The flavor was delicious, on the spicy side but not too spicy. . My husband got the sole which was fried. He thought it would be baked. It was good if you like fried food. Negatives: The television was blasting and in the dinning room which the owner and friend or family were watching. It was a bit annoying. The place was small but clean and tastefully decorated. It was sad that there was only on other couple the entire evening. It really is off the beaten path and you would never go there unless it was intentional. Good find the food was delicious.

Found this place on a Sunday afternoon while wondering around Antibes downtown. Was looking for a few other places but all wouldn't open until later in the evening. Was not that hungry but don't want to just wait 2 hours for the food. While passing this place, saw a few people eating there like a family dinner. When got in, it appeared that they were just regular customers, but very old, returning customers who know the owner well. The place is small with basic decoration of a sit down restaurant (comparing to a fast food/take out place), while very clean. The decor has a north Africa theme consistent with the food. It is not the fancy restaurant for a proposal but give you an authentic feeling of its ethnicity. I ordered the all-meat-in-one option as I was not sure the kind of food based on my limited French (the owner speaks very little English but was very patient with me who speaks little French). It turned out to be in huge portions. Normally, I'd be fine with just one kind of meat included in that portion. This time, however, all of them are so good, I finished all three: lamb, chicken, and beef and all the couscous. I was so full that I went for a 2 miles walk around the cap later that night. The price is more than reasonable, only a fraction of ALL other Antibes area restaurants with 4+ rating. I will definitely come back again.

There's no comparison to this charming, authentic fire-grilled restaurant.
