Four of us took the 4 course 43.50 Euro dinner menu. Having taken lunch here a couple of years ago I was interested to compare what was a very enjoyable midday meal to what was on offer for dinner. A wonderfully tasty amuse buche of pickled turnip commenced the meal which was followed by an excellent mackerel dish as a starter. One slight disappointment was the 'fish of the day' which was an unidentified white fish served with an inedible tough skin. Surely a Michelin star chef would recognise such a thing and either do something to rectify the texture of the skin in order to make it edible, or simply serve the dish without the skin attached? This was the one major downpoint throughout a meal which ended with a magnificient Livarot Mousee cheese course and a strange pineapple / thyme combination - I am not a fan of pineapple so this wasn't for me and it would have been nice if there had been a choice of dessert as there was a choice of entrée and main. All in all it is difficult to criticise the meal for the price we paid but I would have been more disappointed with the fish had we paid more. Drinks were very expensive (6 euros for a cocacola, 11 euros for a kir aperitif) but I suppose you expect to pay such prices at a Michelin starred establishment (although I have visited starred restaurants where drinks were half this price). All in all it was a pleasant meal if not outstanding, not sure I shall be rushing back but I do not regret eating here.

When I looked online and saw the menu, I couldn't believe the prices. A Michelin starred lunch at €25? The same price as the bistro 5 minutes away?No reason not to book! Finally we went for dinner and the 5 course tasting menu. Fresh flavors. 5 courses with plenty to eat without feeling stuffed at the end of the meal. True, there aren't tons of side veggies as some have noted, but there is more than enough to eat.And the bread... Homemade, with homemade butter, jams, chutneys, salts, honeys... Yes, I could have made a meal of the bread but then I would certainly have felt stuffed. The service is top of the line. Michelin gave them a star, so nothing surprising. The silverware is surprising and pleasant.A lovely dinner,Thank you so much to the entire team

We arrived around 2:30, which I agree is post a French lunch time. But we had ridden 40 miles fully loaded and were quite hungry. But despite being booked in for that night they couldn't stretch to providing any food whatsoever. And even more frustrating was that the restaurant was not open that evening. So there we were staying in a Michelin starred restaurant, and we couldn't eat there once, disaster. They were kind enough to give directions to the supermarket - very handy actually and well stocked, about 3 miles on the bike. So I went out and got some snacks for lunch. The room was the 'roses' one, and whilst highly decorative and very 'home made' styled, it was clean and pleasant. Weirdly there was a dishwasher in the room, again hand painted - would you bother? The bathroom as well appointed but windowless, good shower though, but curtained which is always a secondary preference to me over glass or tile. Overall very comfortable if a not a little 'fanciful' in decoration. They allowed us to keep our bikes near the room which was good. Television was so tiny (in comparison to most modern sets) it was nigh on impossible to watch - if that's your thing. We had to go out on the bikes in the evening for a 6 mile return ride to eat, in the nearby seaside town, see review for La Plancha, next time we'd maybe choose a different restaurant in the evening. Breakfast was good, clean simple fair, good bread, limited conserves, and a good coffee. Not sure I'd choose to stay in the area again, or maybe stay at the coast next time. Some beautiful properties for sale in the village nearby though....

This charming little restaurant is in quite an isolated place, the food is remarkable. The philosophy of the place is get the freshest ingredient from the closest places, a job well done. The vegetables are tasty, crunchy, and fresh, handpicked every morning by the chef. The fish is, of course, the freshest, I had the Lieu, which was incredible, perfect even cooking, voluptuous taste, firm meat while still melting in your mouth. There wasn't even a need to add any condiments, the first alone was perfect. My entrée was the Foie Gras, I was very surprise by the quantity and the quality of this entrée, the best Foie Gras I had so far. It was subtle, didn't have any strong taste of alcohol and perfect as is, it was served with their homemade pain d'épice, which paired very well. Before you get served your main courses, you get the chance to select from a panel of homemade condiments, salts & paper, they are served at your table for your own use. The quality of those extras is incredible, but the food was so tasty as is, we didn't really need much. The bread served to you is homemade, very light and delicious. The atmosphere, while being formal was very relaxed compared to other 1 star restaurant I've been to, a very enjoyable experience overall that would strongly recommend.

We spent a great NewYears night at this place. Nadia greeted us very warmheartedly and made sure everything was absolutely perfect.Great place to stay and a fantastic place to eat. The food prepared by Philippe has been recognised with a Michelin star and the wine was paired flawlessly. I would love to come back another time.

This Michelin one starred restaurant was a bit hard to find even with GPS in the car. The room they seated us in (we were the only lunch patrons) had a ballet theme with many framed tutus on the wall. After we ordered, a woman came to our table asking us what housemade condiments we wanted to try. She had many spices, salts, chutneys and sauces to choose from. At the end of the selection she told us that all of them were for sale at reception --this was very strange indeed and a bit tacky in my opinion. The food was good, but most all the items served had a "mousse-like" texture and were somewhat boring to eat. The presentation was not inspired. The service was superior.

We returned to Le Mascaret after our travels to far flung shores over the summer. This time we had what was described as a burger. Well, forget the usual fare, this was a tour de force from Philippe Hardy; lobster and an unbelievably good topping full of flavours that tickled my palate. I could have eaten three of them! But, I followed up with the usual superlative beef and then the excellent cheese trolley. My wife progressed to the turbot accompanied by a sauce of such depth and complexity to make me wonder about my choice of main course. All washed down with champagne and a rather cheeky Bandol rouge from the well constructed wine list.Le Mascaret goes from strength to strength. Is there any other choice in the locality?
