Le Fournil is a treasure chest of breads, savories, and pastries near the famous Marche de Capucins. The boulangerie had the best overall selection of baked goods and patisseries I could find during a month stay.Le Fournil is not a secret and there’s sometimes a queue outside, even though the shop has two cash register lines at peak times. Many customers come only for the bread, which includes baguettes of sunflower, flax, and pumpkin seeds. I came every day for something. Fougasse with Lardon, Coppa and Sun Dried Tomato sandwich, Chocolate Tart, Basque Cake with Cherries, Lemon Tart, Religieuse, Almond Crumble, Blueberry Mousse, Black Forest Cake… There are at least 25 different patisseries to try on any day. You don’t have to visit Le Fournil de Capucins every day, the way I did, but it is a must-taste sensation for people in Bordeaux. Bon appetit.

We didn't realize that this bakery was open hrs until I read it in a review. Never seen that before in France. Stopped here either before or after our market visit. Tried many items and their chocolate/marscapone/cafe cake is a stand out. Ate one...almost every day! Prices are more than reasonable. Consider their small round pizzas lots of flavour and they will heat it up and give you a knife and fork too.

My daughter and I spied this boulangerie after an early morning visit to the Marche des Capucins. The staff agreed to let my daughter have a warm pain au chocolate from the tray (she ended up having three). There is a good selection of delicious...patisserie.

We thoroughly enjoyed some coffee and sweet treats here after a seafood lunch in marché des capucins.

This is a boulangerie located just outside of Le Marche de Capucins, closer to the main street. The shops seems to open as early as a.m. The shop offers various breads, patisseries from the early morning for reasonable prices. Inside of the shop is...clean. There are a couple of small tables for cafe.

Very good breads and croissants especially the pain du chocolate. Open hours is only a benefit especially if you are on your way home and it is late. Can't say enough out Le Journal des Capucins.

Had a day before catching a train from Bordeaux station. Was wandering down a street and came across Le Fournil des Capucins around breakfast time. The huge cabinets full to the brim with desserts were very enticing. My partner agreed we could pop in for...something to eat. They have such a huge range of sweet and savoury snacks ranging from baguettes, sandwiches, tarts and quiches and so many desserts I wanted one of everything. Staff were very friendly despite my pigeon French and the price cheaper than expected. Thoroughly recommend popping in for a bite to eat. You won't regret it!
