This typical French pavement café has a prime position, facing the stunning Cathedrale St. Andre. That was the only good thing about my visit. There is another café that looks very similar, right next-door and I recommend walking past Le Café Francaise and going into that one.Or take in the view of the cathedral then nip around the corner to the excellent and friendly Remparts Café.I stopped in Francaise on a very hot day for a cold drink.I waited some time to be served and noticed that, although it was not very busy, at least two other tables appeared to be peering into the interior to see what had become of the waiting staff. When I did finally get served, I ordered a soft drink and a carafe of water. I was very thirsty. I was much thirstier still, by the time my drink came and was on the point of leaving. My bottle of Orangina was slammed down without any attempt at courtesy and my enquiry as to my water was lost to the air as the water dashed away.I finished my drink very quickly and waited for my water. All attempts to catch any waiuting staff were futile as he quite deliberately avoided any contact. After a very long wait, he literally ran through the seating area, slamming drinks on various tables as he went. A small glass of water was deposited ill-temperedly in front of me and again, the waiter avoided contact with obvious deliberation, so I was unable to complain that it was a single small glass and not a carafe.I gave up at this point. Clearly I left no tip.The prices are as high as you would expect in such a prime sight but the standard of service certainly is not. It's hard to see how it could be worse.Avoid this café.
