Expensive beer, slow service, good views, tourist trap. The views of the cathedral do not make up for the poor service and inflated prices.

My husband and I had dinner here last Sunday evening having just arrived in Bordeaux and picked this restaurant for dinner. We both had a fantastic steak washed down with a bottle of red wine - just what we wanted after a long day. Would definitely go back

We had a special outing in Bordeaux and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The egg mimosa was beautifully served and the Ocean Salad was of copious portions. Very tasty with a large piece of poached salmon, smoked salmon and prawns. Adrian was delightful and paid us special attention. Service was fast and slick. It was lovely to go somewhere with linen tablecloths and napkins. Waiters were well presented and we couldn't have asked for more.

Day trip to Bordeaux from Parentis and looking for a decent lunch.....We found Le Café Francais near the cathedral and decided on a single course lunch. We were seated immediately and although bus, the service was good; helpfully, there was and English / Spanish Menu available. The food when it arrived. was excellent, well cooked and well presented with sensible quantities.

Nice, fun and quick staff, great food, stunning views, and the food comes extremely fast after ordering. A very good restaurant in Bordeaux!

This typical French pavement café has a prime position, facing the stunning Cathedrale St. Andre. That was the only good thing about my visit. There is another café that looks very similar, right next-door and I recommend walking past Le Café Francaise and going into that one.Or take in the view of the cathedral then nip around the corner to the excellent and friendly Remparts Café.I stopped in Francaise on a very hot day for a cold drink.I waited some time to be served and noticed that, although it was not very busy, at least two other tables appeared to be peering into the interior to see what had become of the waiting staff. When I did finally get served, I ordered a soft drink and a carafe of water. I was very thirsty. I was much thirstier still, by the time my drink came and was on the point of leaving. My bottle of Orangina was slammed down without any attempt at courtesy and my enquiry as to my water was lost to the air as the water dashed away.I finished my drink very quickly and waited for my water. All attempts to catch any waiuting staff were futile as he quite deliberately avoided any contact. After a very long wait, he literally ran through the seating area, slamming drinks on various tables as he went. A small glass of water was deposited ill-temperedly in front of me and again, the waiter avoided contact with obvious deliberation, so I was unable to complain that it was a single small glass and not a carafe.I gave up at this point. Clearly I left no tip.The prices are as high as you would expect in such a prime sight but the standard of service certainly is not. It's hard to see how it could be worse.Avoid this café.
