The Black Velvet is a really cool little pub in a side street ! Pretty small, so good vibes! Pool table! Nice range of beer! And for all you Guinness lovers, you're in luck! The burgers are amazing considering it's pub grub ! Generous portions ! Definitely worth a visit !
Make sure you make a visit to this bar a priority. Their burgers are a speciality and are gorgeous and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. As well as showing sports they have live music nights and are serious in what they do. Perfect combination of professionalism and relaxed hospitality. I'd recommend rounding off the evening with a Dead Rockstar cocktail and then a late night stroll along the river side and the miroir d’eau, which is just around the corner from the bar.
Out of all the Irish pubs in Bordeaux, I like the Black Velvet. (and im Irish). They actually do serve real Magners (not like some others in Bordeaux which try to pass off English Bulmers or Strongbow cider as Magners).They have a veggie burger option (potatoe style pattie). Its alright and you can choose various different cheese to have on your burger. The homemade chips are really nice. They serve a full breakfast, which Ive not tried since im veggie (if they had a veggie option id definitely try that).Their Irish Coffee's are also nice.I like the decor in this pub, its Bordeaux-ish with a hint of Irish. The people are friendly and they have live music nights (which ive not gone to). I like to watch Rugby matches here as its fairly quite and not too crazy like the other Irish Pubs.
