Me and my spouse visited this place 2 times on our trip to Lyon. It is a nice small place with good atmosphere and the owner is a nice welcoming guy whom speaks good English. It Is possible to buy wine by the glass and the owner will gladly explain what you are served and guide you through his wines. This is nice if you want to buy some bottles to take home with you, but don't know much about (French)wine. It is also possible to enjoy some local food with your wine. If you are visiting Lyon you should definitely drop by this place.
If you want a taste of life in Lyon, I recommend Muraato where you can chat to locals while having a glass of outstanding wine and great charcuterie. Its easy-going vibe and attention to presenting fine products attract Lyonnaises and visitors alike to this small, modern and charming wine bar.During our last visit there I had a glass or two of crisp dry, white wine and my partner had a couple of glasses of red from a boutique vineyard and we shared some bread and the best smoked salmon you will ever taste. We chatted with locals about movies, local film festivals, some good restaurants and world travel.The bar is opposite the beautiful Theatre Celestins and its adjoining square. If you do not want to go to this wonderful food and wine bar, then at least do yourself a favour and see Place Des Celestins. But, why would you ever miss this gem?
Un joli bar à vin ! Vous pourrez déguster d'excellents vins locaux entourés de nombreuses bouteilles de vin. Le personnel est très compétent et nous a recommandé de bons vins. Nous avons vraiment apprécié leurs propositions de vins. L'assiette de tapas était également magnifique, bien qu'un peu trop chère pour ce que c'était.
Being a wine professional... sometimes you want to visit a bar that takes care of everything. No faulty wines, enough bar snacks to take the edge of a few glasses of wine and no pretense or foot. You let them know if you want red/white/rose? ...dry/fruit/sweet? and they have a rotating selection of wines through the glass that are open (no wine list). The price is cheaper than the drinks at the purchase price per bottle. This place is very casual. Matching groups of only 2-3 ppl (not large enough for large groups).
In Lyon this is a wonderful wine bar. My wife and I went there to try some wines before going on a Rhône River Cruise. Mary, in Muraato, was a wonderful hostess. Friendly, knowledgeable and above all gracious. Very interesting about wine. We had a great experience tasting and talking wines. Will definitely go back. So super
Based on the reviews we went out of our way to find this wine bar after a long day of walking around Lyon. Place was empty except for a girl on her phone sitting down at one the tables out the back... initially thought it...wasn 't open but turns out the girl on her phone was working there. Despite the below reviews she didnt really quiz us on what we liked just said I will choose, just tell me a colour We didn 't really like the choice but decided to give it a try with food... but by the time I had just about finished the first glass she still hadn 't started preparing the food... given we were the only people in there apart from one other couple browsing I can only imagine there was something more important on her Insta/Facebook... May be a different experience with a different staff member.
