We spent our holidays in Meschers-sur-Gironde: a beautiful quiet place where you can still enjoy the quietness and purity of the French culture in the middle of summer. It was obvious this was a local favourite: among various fish restaurants, the majority of customers filled up the tables and chairs of this restaurant's terrace. Great atmosphere. They are not running to bring you your orders or bill, but even though very friendly. I had the Salade fruits de mer: it was incredibly tasty. You could immediately tell there was someone in the kitchen who knew what he/she was doing. You know the feeling where you get something on your plate and you think: "hmmm, I think I could do this better"? Well, that was NOT my feeling that day in July :) Very reasonable prices as well. If you ever stay in the vicinity of Meschers (like Royan!), do yourself a favour and visit this nice authentic village (beautiful ancient church). Then walk to the little harbour and order that salad :)

4 of us visited this restaurant at lunchtime on a Friday, we were catching up as we hadn't seen each other for a long time.We arrived at the restaurant, were seated very quickly and then the waitress tried to take our order more or less before we had seen the menu!! We needed more time so had an aperitif which gave us chance to peruse the menus. My husband had the moules frites and boy what a huge bowl of moules and lots of lovely sauce with them too. I had an Assiette fruit de mer which came with 5 oysters, 5 langoustines, 5 crevettes, quite a lot of bulots and some tiny prawns. Lovely sauces with it too and some rillettes to go with the oysters. One of our friends chose a similar plate to me but had smoked salmon and melon with some langoustines and prawns. The other friend had the Moules Charantais that looked delicious. Two of the party chose a dessert and they both went for the Cafe Gourmand. A lovely meal, the shellfish at this restaurant is always excellent.
