We have dined in this Retaurant on a number of occasions and have always recieved a warm welcome and comprehensive explanation of the individual dishes with a friendly and efficient service. Our latest visit on Saturday evening with four friends was again a most enjoyable evening. On this occasion the steak, an unusual choice for myself, was a good quality cut of sirloin, cooked to perfection. This was complemented by an appetising entree and dessert all accompanied by excellent wine at at sensible price. Would strongly recommend.

We have two well behaved but quite large dogs and the restaurant were kind enough to let us bring them with us. We dined on a lovely terrace which had a warm pleasant atmosphere. The food was fantastic, We had the escargot and the beetroot prawn dishes followed by the pork and Zander main courses. Deserts of Creme Brûlée and Mille feuille To finish. The entire meal was excellent as was the service and wine choice. Not to be missed.

I can't sing this restaurant's praises enough. We came in short notice on Wednesday evening following travelling from the UK. We had emailed in advance the day before, but weren't sure if we'd secured the reservation. No need to worry! They knew we were coming, welcomed us, even commenting that our trip must have been good. The food is very local, freshly prepared and delicious. We went for the set evening menu of three courses at 24€50. We both had the beetroot starter, for main I had the salmon, my husband had pork, for sweet my husband had the cheese board and I had Cointreau ice cream and a shot. All delicious. The wine was also extremely good. The lady owner spoke perfect English, so all the menus were translated for us, and we had a great talk about how she selected her wines. Her husband is the chef there.Anyway, as I said and in summary, I can't recommend this restaurant enough.

The hostellerie is a great place to find traditional French food cooked to a high standard. The welcome and attention you receive is normal for the owners. It is always a good experiance to visit the restraunt.

We were referred to the restaurant by a friend in Montreuil-Bellay who said it was incredible. He was right. Six of us (four Americans and two Australians) had a long lunch during the week we stayed in the area. The owner greeted and seated us (her English is impeccable) and the service throughout the meal was excellent even though the restaurant was full. The menu is quite varied and all of our meals were well-prepared. The hamburger with foie gras and the maison pomme frites were delicious. Great desserts and a reasonable wine list are also positives.

We visited Montreuil Bellay on market day and were struggling to find somewhere for lunch. The Hostellerie was not obviously open, but do not be put off by the exterior. We had a very good 3 course lunch in a very French ambience. It was great to see the locals greeting each other and having lunch together on market day.Service was good and some English is spoken.

Mr R and I have been regular visitors to this wonderful restaurant for a number of years and not once have we ever been disappointed. The quality of the food, the variety of the menu and the service are always excellent. The daily menu du jour is wonderful value at 14.50 for 3 courses, offering a level of choice and creativity not found in most places. The a la carte menu also offers a good selection of dishes and wines. There is a lovely terraced area for when the weather is good and a nice log burner inside during the winter months. A real joy for couples and families alike.
