For those who haven't read past reviews it helps to know what to expect from this divine restaurant. It's is one set menu including wine so once you are seated everything just gets served without consultation. It has a distinct family feel and it really does make for an original experience. We loved the food. The trio of mushrooms were fantastic. The pork pate ok and the duck cassoulet very wholesome although not enough meat for my carnivorous husband. Also loved the crime brûlée but most of all we loved the wonderful interior and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
This was our second visit this year, having walked by the venue some many times before. The restaurant is not open every day so check before you go.Traditional, set menu in a wonderful old barn, which is cool on a hot summers day. You will be offered an aperitif and then your starter of stuffed mushrooms, then rillettes with an endless supply of fouee, cooked in open coals as you eat. Then a cassoulet, followed by crème brûlée and coffee. With local red wine to accompany the meal, this is well worth the 25€ per head.We've had two excellent meals here and would thoroughly recommend this to visitors.
The building is just stunning. The menu is set with little room for adjustment. I guess it is meant to reflect the nature of the surroundings, a french version of a medieval banquet. The wine is included.I would describe the meal as rustic, but the value is excellent and the service pleasant.Definitely worth giving a try.
We were on a business trip in the area and we were treated to a wonderful lunch at La Grange a Dime. Our hosts explained the history of the building etc as a tax collection office in the past which was very interesting.The meal started with some stuffed mushrooms which were amazing. This was followed by small breads that you cut open and then fill with rillette de porc. After about 4 or 5 rounds of bread we were treated to a dish of white beans with confit canard and some salad. We were also treated to some good local wine with our meal. At one point we finished the pitcher of water on our table and after asking the waitress for a refill she jokingly informed me the water wasn't for drinking but to wash our hands as in Anjou you only drink wine with your meal!This was a great treat to have some authentic old style French food in a historical building. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
