on the recommendation of the well-known we chose the château de roussan to celebrate the birthday of a city visitor. the ambiente was beautiful, but we were very disappointed by the service and our meal. in the night when we were there, there was a fisherman's and a meatier's. the trout was in order if nothing from the ordinary, but the bark was so hard, it could barely cut with a knife and chew only with a big upshot. we reported this to our server, whereupon the chef kindly came to our table to explain that what we had ordered was actually a muscle and not a piece filet. while we appreciate the explanation, the taste of the flesh could not be for toughness. we found the desserts a moelleux, which turned out to be more like a baba, and a île flatante, which was a custard sauce served with too many competing aromas of chocolate and obstinate to be disappointing. we have never got bread with dinner and spent a good time until almost the end of the meal to get the attention of a waiter. but no one ever saw us away, or even looked at the other tables to see what was missing. we were also withdrawn that the waiter had a main course over the table when there was enough space to place it before our guest. at the end of the evening we have been sorry to have a hospitable here for a special occasion.
