We first went to the Cafe Bondu last year when it had literally been open just a few days. It's great to find it's thrived over the last 12 months. It's easily our favourite place to eat around here. The food is uncomplicated, reliably tasty and always excellent value. Of course, good food and good value are by no means uncommon in France, but the Cafe Bondu scores for being so consistently welcoming. The staff are just lovely, always friendly and accomodating, not to mention forgiving of those who do not have French as their mother tongue. No matter how busy they are, they've always squeezed us in.There's a time and a place for Michelin starred establishments, but if you want the antidote to overblown cuisine and overly fussy service, you'll struggle to do better than this.
