"Visit on 07.06.2015 (see also review from 06.11.2014) General We were once again in the most beautiful beer garden St. Wendels. You must be lucky to get a table in nice weather and weekends. We were lucky, a suitable three table was just released when we were in the lasy beer garden at 19:30h. Service As usual, despite high-level operations, we were very busy and attentively served us this evening after a friendly welcome of the partner of the owner Ralf Riedschy. The drinks came fast, the food took a little longer, but we were told before. I shortened the 40 minutes waiting period with a deliciously refreshing Karlsberg Ur Pils from the barrel in the Steinkrug 0.5l to 3.60€, my companions had a dry Riesling and mineral water. From the small beer garden map we chose a salad “Rustikal” with roasted potatoes and fried eggs, a salad “palm” with fillet tips from beef and roasted mushrooms, as well as a flame cake with salmon. The salads consisted of crunchy fresh salads of the season, thinly covered with finely spiced, slightly piquant housewear, as well as various homemade tasty raw food salads, the perfectly roasted crispy roasted potatoes were crowned with a neat mirror egg, the fillet tips of the beef were plentiful, nicely tender and hand-made, at the flame. All again a beautiful evening in the “Palm”, great food in a beautiful ambience. As far as I can confirm my evaluation from November 2014 almost 1 to 1, only the prices were raised compared to the previous year, quite reasonable and still within the framework – so the salad “Rustikal” now costs 8,50€ instead of 8,00€ and the salad “Palme” recently 13,50€ instead of 12,00€ Criticism Visit to 23.06.2014 In the heart of St. Wendel, the most beautiful castle garden is the palm beer. In this green, lush oasis you can find on cozy basket chairs under powerful limes and beech and feels good. In addition to seasonal dishes, a beautiful selection of salads and self-made flame cakes from the rustic stone oven, the kitchen offers a changing lunch. Today we were back for lunch. I have often visited the restaurant in recent years, for lunch, for dinner. With my assessment, I would like to underline the continuity of the “palms” regarding the quality of service and kitchen. Service The waitress was friendly, attentive and fluttering. While we had a look at the small “Biergarten Card” on the table, she informed us about the current daily meal when ordering drinks. We ordered a large bottle of mineral water, which was well heated after a short time in the beverage cooler. Even the food came after a pleasant waiting period. Goats We had a salad “Rustikal” – fresh salads of the season with roast potatoes and fried eggs at 8.00 € and the daily dinner Paprika Rahm Schnitzel with croquets at 7.00 € and a small additional salad at 2.00 € As a greeting from the kitchen came a large herbal cucumber with freshly baked baguette. Rating: All ingredients were fresh, prepared from good quality and delicious. The salad, consisting of various leaf salads, iceberg salad and chicory leaves, has a delicious freshness and a well seasoned, picantly decorated cream dressing. Crude foods were carrot salad as well as two kinds of herbal salad, once coarsely cut and spicy, once finely sprinkled with a slightly sweet note. The roasted potatoes were finely cut and golden yellow crispy with a mirror egg roasted above. The daily meal, two small carvings beautifully thin, covered by a perfect panade and fried golden brown, was also very good. The sauce with green, yellow and red peppers (fresh and without canned) was delicious, but could have been more courageously spiced. The croquettes were flattered. Today the kitchen was able to convince and receives 4 stars"

Edessa

Edessa

Schnitzel, Donateur, Salades, Pizza, Pâtes

"In the Döneria EDESSA you can quickly, well and cheaply satisfy the small or great hunger, the Döner is even praised on the menu as “Best Döner in Town”. I can't judge it because I don't know the other Dönerläden in St. Wendel. But I can definitely recommend the EDESSA. I liked it here. The well-sorted menu offers a beautiful selection of appetizers such as baked soft cheese, salads, mixed salads, farmers or shepherd salad, carving and noodles, but also pizzas and of course “Leckeres from the Döneria” such as Falafel or Yufka. Eating/evaluation I chose a large Döner plate with pommes and salad at 7,50 €, plus a soft beer at 1,90€, a complete meal for less than 10€. After a pleasant waiting period, a really lush part was served on a large preheated plate. Richly nice thin slices of dönerspieß, I chose chicken meat, the pussies were nicely crooked, not too fat, well seasoned, tender and pleasantly juicy, the bims spiced, wonderfully tasty the salad blend of fresh iceberg salad, thinly crumbled white and reddish dressing, crowned with cucumbered service slice and non-C The staff is very friendly, at the counter ordered, served at the table. In contrast to many other snacks, EDESSA offers almost restaurant ambience, because the cosy seating in the light-flooded room reminds of a conservatory through a window with high space invites guests to eat on site. 5 parking spaces are available in front of the snack, as well as numerous parking facilities nearby. Conclusion: good döner in an appealing “fresh ambience”, delicious, fresh, cheap"

Bistro Zur Insel

Bistro Zur Insel

Wendelinuspark, Am Skaterpark, 66606 Sankt Wendel , Saarland, Germany

Spécialités Internationales Régionales, Fruit De Mer, Saisonnier, Européen, Allemand

"Visit on 16.09.2014 In March 2013 Nicole Braun moved with her “Bistro Island” into new premises above the Skaterpark with an old restaurant name, but modified concept from the Wendalinusbad 300m. The restaurant is ideal starting point for hikes, here begins a beautiful ca. 5km long tour with magnificent views of the rich green hills around the St. Wendeler Golfpark. Ambiance I don't understand the relationship with an island of Bistro. The outdoor area is a mix of Sansibar and Paulaner beer garden, here typical beer garden under Paulaner beer garden flag, as two beach baskets and in front of the restaurant window is a lonely surfboard. The interior is beautifully decorated with cozy baskets, all kinds of island decoration such as model ship, lighthouse, white bearded captain with pipe in the mouth and fish nets on walls and ceilings. In winter a fireplace oven offers warmth. Who now believes that the focus of the “Island cuisine” is fish is disappointed, because the island kitchen has nothing to offer to Seafood except strips from the smoked salmon to the oven potato and fried shrimps. Service I was greeted at first quite unfriendly and loud by the little farmer dog, but after he could later hug a piece of meat that was not observed by the service of me, he was really laborious and beautiful. On the other hand, the female service was very friendly, fleeting from the outset and let me, like the head of the house, be involved in a small professional conversation, in which they will provide me with a proud and competent information about preparation – and here I come to my selection of dishes – the delicious chicken. Goats I am a chicken freak and so my choice for the 1⁄2 chicken with salad fell to 7,90 € For dinner I ordered a small dry Merlot Rosé, ideally tempered, fruity, aromatic, really delicious and calculated with 1,60 € for 0.1l very moderate. In addition, a mineral water of € 1.60 as a thirst quencher. Now to the chicken: My choice was right again. Undivided approx. 1200gr heavy, crispy skin with spicy spicy marinade, the meat beautiful white, aromatic, juicy, visual and taste very good. Almost 5 stars because I recently enjoyed a more aromatic and more juicy chicken. Nevertheless, it was very good to make the preparation perfect, because here too is the magic word for the successful preparation “convectomat”. The cook told me how it works. The chickens are precooked, divided, then the marinade passes and, when the guest orders, it takes only 35 minutes – right, I looked at the clock – and the perfectly cooked chicken lands on the guest plate. The integrated grill program ensures the beautifully crispy skin. The additional salad was so great that the task of the pommes was the right decision. A mixture of fresh leaf salads with a delicious acidic housedressing and, very original and for a “Bistro cuisine” quite unusual, with a flower herb mixture above. Conclusion: friendly service, fine chickens, food and drinks at moderate prices. Of course not my last visit."

"before the summer comes out of the dust, I am looking for one of my favorite retreats in st. wendel: the golf hotel of the engels. years ago, because I was looking for a beautiful beer garden for the festive, I also give after this new visit a culinary engagement. in the angel’s golf hotel you can experience a solid, if not ambitious kitchen performance and let the golf club be home. as a professional country and Scottish traveler, I am attracted by rich and juicy meadows. as last Sunday. while looking through the huge glass elements of the restaurant on the endless green arises holiday mood and/or farweh. I always feel that way when I go to the close. the light-flooded rooms make their part. small bistrotic tables with heavy white table linen give a first statement. angels welcomes the hospitable (from st. wendel, from saarbrücken and how I can hear the neighboring from New Zealand! wherever he can come. the fact that the restaurant only comes indirectly on other portals does not seem so much to me on Sunday. the current menu is again absolutely at the level of time. as appetizers impress two scallops between heaven and earth, or the herbal bark filet carpaccio with senfvinaigrette next to the ratatouille seasoned with pesto. as a main course, the fishing offers the lambspinne with thymian honey crust on young pebbles and kartoffeln rucola puree or the juicy lemon horn with Provencal vegetables and rosmarin seasoned. in addition, three fish dishes make among other things the zanderfilet with kalamatakrokantkruste and peperonata and the roasted seabarsch on orange fenchelrisotto appetit! we decide for the lemon heu (17, euro and the us black angus flank steak, which was offered for the first time on the map, 225 gr hard with sweet and rosmarin apples for 21. euro. as entry I take a small salad if they should ever read this, the far-reaching consequences for me can mean the mushes, together with kartoffel pylumonia. from the well-stocked wine list we order a pinot blanc from the pfalz (0.2 for 4 euro). at the entrance there is an average quality brot and crumbled gurke. then follow the appetizers. my little appetizer salad for 3.50 euro consists of head, field and rocket made with a light cream dressing ok! the heavenly and earthly variant makes it visually more. on an owalen plate a beautiful, allye portion pure, over it the earth (two slices fried bloodworst with a large hood of thin frit wobble and over on two wonderfully glazed scalings. a single look into my guide is enough to see that the cook has done a whole job here. we expect the most important foods. I get four wonderfully delicately boiled slices from chicken breast aromatic to lemon and thymian fragrant on an optimally lubricated vegetable routing red wine, rosmarin and a hauch garlic. small rosmarink-species. the main course of my guide obviously has the nase at the front: five neat tranchen flank steak, medium cooked, separated a bowl with vegetables thrown in butter, and here also the rosmarin apple. the meat of delicate consistency, only flavoured with sea salt and pepper, it does not need! Conclusion: the short-term golf trip was once again a real culinary success!"

Das Flammkuchehaus

"in general “Live Free” – under this motto in the summer months flame-cake bistro and bogart 's with beautiful weather live concert on the “Bühne am Dom”. when we wanted to hear volkshasser (12saiter) we were already in place at 18:30 clock, the concerts begin against 19 clock and end up against 22 clock. well gimmelt, because when the first song was tuned with its gitarre, all the tables were occupied. the flammkuchenbistro – here at gastroguide still under the old name flammkuchenhaus – belonged to a small chain of flammkuchenhäuser in saarland until some time ago, but now stands independently under the line christiane reh. with beautiful weather one takes of course one of the tables in front of the flame-cake bistro in the near-uin street square, from here one has a great view of the dom and of course the “dom Stage”. kitchen evaluation the restaurant offers flammkuchen specialities in 35 different variations, which are baked in wood stove on stone as well as some salat creations. the flamen-cheek bistro still apply with various specials, all they can eat on Sundays for families for 14,50 € person (children from 8 14 years 8.00 € person and children up to 7 years – free,) on Wednesday everything they can eat with French land wine, reasonable on 5 glasses to 0.2l limited to 17,30€ person or without land wine 13,50 € person. now everything you can eat” or “drink” are not my ding. we chose the monthly flaky cake “Rucola” in a large amount of €10,20 we find that special sauces are also offered for allergic agings, so we have lactose-free ordered the soaked soya-based and also lactose-free rubbed emmental. the flame cake from the wood stove was very delicious, a thin slightly bubbled pleasantly crisp teig, well covered with fresh ingredients, halved cocktail tomatoes, pushes out black forests, aromatic sosty and spicy emmental and plentiful rucola over it. for a little more pep we gave a little salt and pfeffer from the mill above. 4 stars of the addition salad at 3,30 € and my salad with laughing at 9,80 € we did not find so convincing. visually ok, a lush part of really market-fresh crisp crisalate with several well-toned soul laxes from the partypack and a cleck-seed-seed-pferd from the tube. that alone is of course not a ko kriterium, too often the salmon is quite well wounded, but the blown dressing according to the menu “with fine stanked and on edgy oil base” that should give the salat his “soul” was a “medium” rate. I hold a typical finish mix, slightly sweet and with the distinctively almost slender consistency of these large bottles, as they are known from the canteensalatbar. If I should be wrong with the kitchen team and make this brew myself, I must unfortunately find that a finished product cannot get worse. I don't understand. to house I don't need 2 minutes to stir with vinegar, oil, salt, pfeffer, a prise muskat, some sugar, possibly peeling and a few fresh crumbs without big wall a more tasty dressing. for the salate of the flame-cake bistro I give weak 2 stars. Gothic, because the flame-cake was really delicious. highly recommended: the delicious fruity rosé land wine 0.2l to 3.80 € service to the service that I come to the conclusion this time, because here I can only say – absolute top. in the insert were 3 young ladies, all super friendly and above all very attentive and fleeting, motivated and visible with joy at work. there was enough a short look, a hand sign at passing and the ladies were immediately at the place, the more praiseworthy because they feed and drink really appreciated 100 guests. Conclusion: fleet and attentive service, flame cake very tasty and recommended to disappoint the salads."

"since januar 2014 is the small restaurant under new management, but in usual good quality. also the small dining room was blown with a lot of taste and love to detail. next to the cozy basket chairs there are now two modern white high tables with black hockey at the windows and the local invites them from Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 15:00 a.m. to the lunch table. in the kitchen is now manuel blackweller, known as chef chef in restaurant blindise in st. wendel. the sun has changed little; the service known from earlier visits, the guests still care about friendly, attentive, flotted and well-aligned. I chose a table-spitz with bouillon potatoes and homemade merrettich sauce at 7.80 €. as a greeting from the kitchen there was today a delicious mini quiche drain. all ingredients were used to prepare fresh, homemade and delicious. 4 stars, but for the full partitur it has not been enough today. bouillon potatoes are a classic addition to a table-spitz, but I would have been happy if the table-spitz had been served separately from the potato vegetables, because the clear broth slightly watered the searettich. the tafelspitz was very lean, but m.e. a too hard and dry tusk and not as buttery as I love him. Now I'm not an acute cook, but guess that maybe too much of the fat layer that leaves the meat juice was cut off before cooking. Conclusion: whether good citizen or medium sea, the small map of the day offers something for everyone. I will continue to visit and recommend the little wendelinus."
