Making reservations is a must at this small restaurant serving their delicious twist on classic Italian and Mediterranean dishes. They source their food from local farms which makes this a truly Upstate South Carolina treat. The restaurant with adjoining hotel is so European, nestled in the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’re a cyclist, you’re going to want to come here just for the mountains and rolling hills. Make sure to reserve dinner as well at Restaurant17. You won’t be sorry you did. There’s also cool references to the man himself (George Hincapie) and the views are to die for. Service was top notch. Food was delicious and served properly. They have a superb wine list, unbelie...
The food was good, and the view was even better but the service was seriously bare minimum. Our waiter, Sam, was not very helpful or friendly. One word answers to questions, pretentious, at one point I ask if something was available and he just said “no”…okay…suggest something else maybe? I had to asked for more drinks, it was never offered and as soon as he got to the table it was like he had to run. It’s unfortunate because the staff running the food was great! They were very genuine and engaging. I hope they pool tips, because they deserved it more than our waiter. Edited to add a star, because I’m sure if we had another server it would have been a five star experience.
Okay, so we went to dinner last night and I wanted to share it. At first, the food and the ambience were amazing. And while it was dark until then, I will go back this summer to experience the spectacular views. Secondly, I have never experienced the kind of service we receive around 17. Remember my name and why we were there, a tour through the grounds, in deep explanations of the menu and even a dessert wine tutorial not yet fully explain how the staff went beyond and beyond to feel us like VIP 's. This random decision to try something new was a bit off the beaten path.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was fantastic, scallops and dessert were perfection. All employees were super nice and professional. We'll be back again and again. Beautiful complex in the area.
