Acme is closing down for good by the end of June so we made sure to get in quick smart as a few of us hadn’t been here. We booked in and earliest time we could get in was but since we didn’t have much choice we took that time as sittings and the other much earlier and couldn’t make it. The menu offered was a set menu called crush me menu. It was split into parts and you had to choose as a table, one from section one (snacks), two from section two (vegetables), optional course of add on of truffle, one from section three (cold item), and three from section four (pastas). Some serious pasta game going here but I mean creativity isn't always a success as taste is quite preferential and I think for the Western palate ACME hits the notes. If you've got an Asian palate yea gonna say your not gonna be particularly wow-ed and more feel like your not getting the full experience. I think the Typhoon Shelter pasta is the best example. Typhoon Shelter is a Hong Kong speciality and the taste is very robust like fireworks in your mouth but I mean this is necessary as the accompanying crab cooked in the shell needs the added spice to flavour the meat. My partner had wanted to try this place for a while so we finally made our way out. Despite our tardiness due to classic Saturday night Sydney traffic and the downpour of rain, we were welcomed graciously by the staff at Acme and seated at the bar (love this as this is where all the actions happens As it was the final month, we chose options from the “Crush Me” menu; an assortment of snacks and pastas. We got the OG Jatz, Fried Green Tomato, Roasted Carrots, BBQ octopus, Bucatini, Spaghetti, Macaroni and an additional Coconut Rice Cream dessert (excellent choice for those who are lactose intolerant). This is one of my fav!! All the noodle dishes, they are killing it, absolutely stunning. Eggplant is not my thing but has a very rich aftertaste, all my other friends love it. Have to particularly point it out that their desert, the coconut ice cream with whipped coconut cream!!!! You have to try it.
