The ambiance is very nice inside, as well as on the terrace. It is of a rustic elegance. The Adler Wirschaft therefore has the setting for a great place, but it is too full of oneself to be enjoyed. When you read the menue, you find that they actually have the nerve to REQUIRE you to order an appetizer as well as the main meal. They are shocked when you don't find any of their appetizers suitable and you promise to have dessert (so not to decline their income). The quality of the food ranges from average to good. It's definitely overrated. And to top it off, the menue states that ony "clueless" people could order a good piece of meat and want it well-done, and that every cook that pities his...

You know what you are going to get here. Top quality ingredients, well cooked and presented in a simple manner. Place was absolutely packed inside and out, luckily our party had made a reservation for 6, and unlike another reviewer we were not asked in advance to order, we just chose from the menu. Very friendly welcome, delicious welcome riesling sekt and then we settled down to peruse the winelist. We had decided in advance to order 6 different starter and mains to get maximum opportunity to taste as many different flavours, therefore we left the wine choice up to our very friendly and helpful waitress but asked her to stay local. A friend of my informed me that a 2 star chef got back to the basics and he did. Black pudding with pear&apple compot. Crunchy at the outside and soft in the inner. It is for me always a lithmus test dish for the better restaurants and it was a clear pass. Second course was a entrecote. We had to wait a bit but a lot of passion was put into it. I had it rare with only butter and persil. Simply great. Quick in the pan, longer in the oven of 100 degrees and than relax under a warm lamp. A quaint looking facade on a quiet street in Hattenheim hides a surprisingly contemporary and accomplished restaurant with a lovely outdoor terrace. Absolutely everything was superb, with numerous unexpected touches, including a textbook crisp pilsner draft, delicious amuse-bouche of raw Norwegian salmon with wasabi cream, and complimentary dessert offering including a miniature creme brulee. Well-chosen wine list including numerous half-bottle options. Cooking is precise and portion sizes reasonable. End to end, one of our most enjoyable meals in Germany. Very impressive location, packed with guests.An amazing wine list, specializing in regional wines; very carefully selected and very reasonably prices. Respect about that!Extremely professional and friendly service team.The food however ranges from "amazing" to "it's OK", depending on the course you're eating.This inconsistency is not unexpected on this level of dining. Maybe we caught them off guard on a bad day. I hope so for them and I wish them to get the food organized in a flawless manner for future customers. I have no doubts they are able to perform on this level.

atmosphere was very pleasant, however large sign indicated that you must order at least 2 courses; 1 member of our foursome asked if she could eat only 1 (health reasons), the young man's answer was arrogant; the food quality was good, the price charged was not justified; in general the restaurant is overrated; the chef does not live up to his credentials; on balance we a nice meal with good local wine but we would not return

We got to this restaurant by accident after a small hiking tour in the region.Ae we where dressed casualy we got initial treated with quite soem arrogance. It woudl have not taken much for us to get up again an leave.However the food is actually very nice, howver variaty is very limited as there are set menues. Service got better during the evening but never really reached a freidnly level.

My husband and I found this charming restaurant by chance, and stopped in. Reservations are recommended but they were able to seat us. The food was fantastic, not a large menu. Each course was fresh made and in. Between we were surprised with delicacies from the Chef. We will definitely return. Réservez une table maintenant

We made a reservation in advance, as recommended by a friend who wrote an article on Franz Keller. It was a beautiful, romantic place with incredible food and local wine. Worth the trip from anywhere. Bring cash......lots of it!
