The Afghan bread is a must-try! It's fluffy, soft, and slightly toasted. It pairs perfectly with the meat or can even be enjoyed on its own with the dips. We often overlook this place as we usually head straight for one of the Asian eateries on the strip, but after a friend's recommendation, we decided to give it a shot, and we were not disappointed. The friendly staff, who are from a family farm, made our experience even more delightful. We ordered the mixed kebab, which was an excellent choice, allowing us to savor the lamb, chicken, and rice. The meat was juicy and tender, beautifully seasoned with a subtle smoky flavor from being grilled over charcoal. We'll definitely be returning, as t...

Ordered a mixed kebab platter (chicken and lamb skewer). I always expect flavour from middle eastern cuisine but the pilaf lacked flavour. The skewers were nice, not overcooked. Bread came out hot and fluffy. Lemon still have its sticker on. Edit: Did a second visit because I was around the area. I ordered the same mixed kebab platter and tried the charcoal chicken in half meal. Side salad were fresh. Mint yoghurt dip was refreshing. Bread still big and fluffy. Mixed kebabs were still cooked beautifully. The charcoal chicken was moist and the pilaf rice finally..im satisfied with it. My partner love it. Great value and very generous with their portions and servings. The lemons now are...read...

Thought we would try this place out after a friend recommended it me. So I went, when I walked n I thought it was just your usual kebab place so did my brother. But I ordered the lamb Quorma which was so tender delicious. I think it was cooked in a slow cooker. I also had a mixed rice was cooked to perfection love the charcoal chicken and lamb but not I'm not a fan of the kofte my brother had the chicken and rice dish and he said it was nice but he tried some of mine and said that he should of got a one of my dishes lol it also came with complimentary chicken soup was a great little start to the meal. The also served us a fresh piece of round bread to eat with it which was so fresh...read mo...

One of the beauty of being in Melbourne is the accessibility to various cultures' cuisine. Despite only a 2.8/5 rating at the time of writing, we decided to give this place a try after reading J-Fo's review. You had me at $8 for a full plate of chicken and rice) Upon entering I went straight to the counter to ask where we should place our order. A soft-spoken gentleman beckoned politely for us to take a seat as table service was available. Interior of the restaurant was simple and clean, the flower patterns on the table tops reminded me of those Malay restaurants back home. We had the Lamb Qorma $11.99) and Chicken Rice $8). Got off to a good start when we were served complimentary...read mo... Réservez une table maintenant

As promised, in celebration of nearly hitting triple figure followers..it's double upload day. And tonight it was time to hit Afghan Star with my beloved cousin Jake and his girlfriend Jana. Afghan Star is located in the heart of Sunshine, and if you can overlook the outdated decor then you may be in for a little treat (that's a big may be by the way). I ordered the mixed kebab which came with lamb, mince, chicken skewers and a healthy portion of Biryani rice. As an Afghan noob I would say the cuisine has similarities from both Turkish and Indian cultures (if that offends anyone in any culturally/culinary conflicting way then I apologise...sort of). Like, if Turkey and India had a...read mor...

I really enjoy this restaurant; the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The decor is a bit clichéd, but I find it quite charming. The dining area is casual and comfortable, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly and provide good service.

We ordered the lamb kebab to take away, but it turned out to be a terrible mix of different meats. Overall, the quality has declined, and I won't be returning.
