I had yet been to a sushi place that serves on a belt and pay based on the plate. I highly suggest it though! It was so good, I left full and it cost 20.35. That was a pop, tempera ice cream, app and sushi. 3 different people asked what I would like to drink though, so a bit of confusion at first on how it worked or who was serving me but the sizes of and freshness of the sushi rolls themselves was perfect for me.
The food was quite disappointing. It didn't really have the authentic taste of Japanese cuisine; it was more like subpar Chinese food. The beef reminded me of something you'd find in a school cafeteria, and the broth tasted like salty beef water. The shrimp tempura was decent, but the batter was thick instead of light and crispy. On the plus side, it is affordable.
I’ve been here many times before, the sushi is acceptable. It’s quite cheap so it’s you get what you pay for. I did get the teriyaki chicken today though, in which all ingredients tasted a bit old, as well as the chicken being slightly undercooked. It was still a good meal, but I’d look at other sushi conveyers before deciding on Akira sushi.
I came in around 7pm on a regular weekday. Service was excellent. Food? Well the salmon nigiri was warm when I ate it but mentally tried to dismiss it. I started puking the next morning. It does get busy, but there also needs to be a way of clearing old food or checking to make sure the sushi is still served colder.
