The staff at this restaurant are truly some of the friendliest people I've encountered! They engaged with my family, treated us to incredibly tasty pizza, and even offered complimentary samples of their delightful gelato. This place is a hidden gem in downtown Hinsdale that you might miss among numerous other options, but it’s definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend it! The five cheese pizza (if I remember the name correctly) was exceptional. However, I want to mention that my Margherita pizza was slightly burnt. If you're looking for a taste of Italy, you must try the margherita pizza! Just one bite took me right back. The crust is delicious, and the sauce, paired with fresh mozzarella and basil on every slice, is perfection. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the service is very friendly. I also took home the arancini for dinner and can't wait to enjoy them tonight! As for kid-friendliness, the gentleman who took our order was incredibly nice and our food came out very quickly.
The vegan and gluten-free pizza is somewhat pricey considering what you get. While it's decent, it doesn't really warrant the expense. I've had tastier pizza at other places for a much lower price. I recognize that this isn't the main highlight of their menu, so I'm willing to be a bit more lenient about it. However, I do appreciate that they provide this option. It's great to see restaurants making an effort to cater to guests with different dietary restrictions.

This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Illinois. Even though I moved out west years ago, I always look forward to returning here whenever I'm back home. Altamura serves the only pizza that doesn’t make me feel unwell afterward. I think it's because they use fresh ingredients imported from Italy. The crust, cheese, and sauce are exceptional. I also tried their salads, which were delightful. Plus, the staff is extremely friendly.
