Our adult family of 3 had dinner here last night. Not busy at all. Nice decor, very clean, friendly staff. Drinks and meals were quick to come out. We shared the onion ring starter. They were really nice, hot and light fluffy batter. Came with a smokey dipping sauce. On order was the Angus burger with choice of fries. The burger was pretty big and I believe had good a good taste. The only disappointment was that it was not a hand pressed meat patty. 2 Of us had the Angus Scotch. Myself & my pregnant partner & her brother visited here on a tuesday night. Let me start with we nearly walked out before we even ordered due to the live singer inside which was totally opposite to what you expect in a steakhouse type diner. No offence but listening to a high pitched singer playing on electric piano keyboard during dinner time is very off putting. Not much to talk about when it comes to service, the young staff simply do their job without any fan fare or extra input to helping the customer. I don't even know where to start with this restaurant experience. I ordered the rocket salad but was told they were out of rocket, so they offered me cos lettuce instead. Unfortunately, the lettuce hadn't been washed properly and was gritty. Then we ordered steaks but were told they couldn't be cooked rare, so we had to settle for medium. The steaks were overcooked and tasted like burnt charcoal, even the gravy couldn't save them. The mashed potatoes were also flavorless. As an apology, we were offered ribs and a glass of wine, but the ribs were overcooked, dry, and covered in flavorless gravy. This cafe/restaurant is located at the bottom of the Meridian hotel, but you do not have to be a guest to dine here. We visited for breakfast and were impressed with the quality of the food. We both ordered eggs, bacon, and toast, one scrambled and the other poached. The food was cooked perfectly and very delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, with good music playing in the background and a relaxing atmosphere thanks to the nice decor. Tea and coffee were served promptly and of great quality as well. We paid less than $40 for two full breakfasts, two coffees, and a pot of tea, which we found to be excellent value. I will definitely be dining here again on my next visit to Adelaid...

My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. It was quite busy when we arrived, but it cleared out by 8pm/8:30pm. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service was a bit lacking (there seemed to be only three staff members working). The staff could use better communication skills, as one of them chased us down when we were leaving to ask if we had paid (we had already paid when we ordered).
The best food I had in town so far. If your search for a filling satisfying meal go here, also just a nice bar a salad in offer they have the sweetest slices of cake and generous amount on the plate so that you are able to be happy with the price and quality I never had so slowly cooked ribs (hex on the table in a good contemporary way) and seafood that was definitely never frozen was so happy to find a place in the city
Had the overnight slow cooked steak and it was very tasty. The dessert choice was good but not extensive. The mashed potato was delicious. Good wine choices. There is seating available outside do this would be nice in summer
We were extremely impressed with the fast, friendly service. The quality and presentation of the food was really good .The only disadvantage was that we had to go up to the counter to place our dinner order.
